15 year old Kuro-kun has made his home in an insulated cardboard tunnel, with his chin resting on a frozen water bottle wrapped in a tea towel.


Neko-chan has chosen the floor of the downstairs bathroom as the coolest place he can find.


And Yami-chan has opted for the shower cubicle.

Seems like you're getting temperatures that we usually see about this time of year. Today's high was only 73F, which is what you would usually get. Weird climate change. Do you have AC at your house? If not, with such high temps, you might try using a cool mist humidifier blowing into the back of a fan. That's what we call a poor man's swamp cooler around here but only works with low humidity. Back when Mama-san and I lived in a garden apartment and didn't have AC or a swamp cooler, that's what we used and it would lover the temperature about 10 degrees when we used two of them together.

Yes, we're currently hotter than Utah, which isn't the norm! We don't have AC, since max highs around here are normally mid-80s. Tom set up a bunch of fans drawing in cold/iced water like you say. We have water and ice and fans, and the temperature's going to drop to a predicted high of 95/35 tomorrow and then drop another 10 degrees the day after, so we'll be back to normal by Wednesday and I'll be laying out in the sun like a lizard again!

Laying out in the sun sounds divine. I plan to reacquaint myself to that bright yellow orb in the sky all of July for the first time in over a decade. Hope our temperatures return to our "normal" soon! We've had so much humidity and rain these past several months that our swamp coolers can't do their job. I made FH put in the window AC that we bought for Mama-san years ago so the pups and I wouldn't melt.

Just didn't have/didn't make the time but that's changing this summer! I've also been eyeing some of the small pools too...

It got cool enough last night that I actually pulled a sheet over me at 3.30am. That's much more normal!
