tiggymalvern: (wtf is with this shit?)

I spontaneously got no better on the tedious aches or the tinglings, so I returned to see my GP at the end of last week. I talked to him about the chiropractry aspect several people had recommended, and he wasn't keen on it for anything involving discs and nerves, an attitude I can fully sympathise with (googling reveals one case study in which 75% of people with C6 radiculopathy got better with chiropractry, and the other 25% got worse. Nice for those who improve, really sucks for those who don't.) He does recommend another form of physio instead, which involves putting the neck into slow traction so the disc slips back into the enlarged space.

So anyway, the result is that I'm now 3 days into a 6 day course of prednisone (so far relieves some of the aching rather conveniently, does sod all for the tingles). None of the nasty side effects the GP was so paranoid about though, which doesn't surprise me given how frequently we hand them out to the animals, and how few of them have real issues.

I'm seeing the physio on Wednesday about having my neck stretched. Sounds like fun! Damn, I'm tall enough without the rack XD

It does that to some dogs too. Other dogs become drinking machines instead, and can't go more than a couple of hours without needing to be let out to pee - the owners tire of that one rather fast!

My GP was more worried about mood alterations, but frankly that's something I'd worry about if I was going to be on them two months, not six days.
