this is the part where I love all over this story, right?

cause... damn. this is GOOD - it's ddiffernet than the vast majority of El/Sands fics out there, and that's ina good way. I'd started to think that there is no way to write good El/Sands without dysfunctional codependancy and then thisblew my mind. Absolutely. :D the fact that Sands manages on his own just fine is wonderfully awesome :) and the ending? Brilliant. Poor Lorenzo :P *waves Whore!Lori banners* that part just made me squeee :P

I really really do love and adore this story to bits. Awesome job! :D

Well, they're still both fairly dysfunctional by most people's standards, even if they're coping by their own! And no relationship between these two on any level is ever going to be exactly healthy XD. But I did really want to get away from the incredibly clingy Sands dynamic, because while I can enjoy those fics, I can't believe them. To me, the whole plan with the money was about Sands' need for complete independence - it was about getting away from the CIA and being able to go where he wanted and do what he wanted. And I honestly think he'd react badly to the idea of having any level of dependence on anyone.

And it was great fun being able to suck Lorenzo and Fideo back in - anything to up the snark quota! :-)

the snark is of the most lovely kind. one of thereasons I love anything that has Lori and Sands int he same scene is because the snark shoots exponentionally :P (and ok, I just love the pretty.:P )

I quite like Lorenzo, despite the fact that I'll happily pass on the actor. He's so delightfully cynical for someone so young! And thoroughly mercernary with it, something I think Sands would appreciate in him XD I was trying to work in a comment along those lines, but it just wouldn't fit, it kept disrupting the flow :-(

I personally blame Lorenzo for the fact that nearly 2 years I wanted the actor's babies... *blush* (yes, I obsess easily. and hard.)

he is definitelly delightful that way :;D I am writing this huge-as-hell fic exploring just how ghe became as cynical as he is, and what ewill happen when his past comes back to bite him in the ass (with some help from Sands' past cause hey, Mexico fic without Sands just doesn't work that well :P ) of course, int hat one he is not quite as young as he looks... but if figure that hey,t he actor was that age, so I could concievably have him be the same, even if he is a complete babyface :P

I wouldn't say I obsess easily - once I find one, it tends to be a while before another displaces it XD - but hard, to the point where RL just becomes that inconvenience that drags me away from my fannish love - hell, yeah! But that's what being a fan's about - ramble away :-)

Lorenzo has to have a weird kind of background there to have ended up where he is, hanging round a drunk and a vigilante! But I hope you've got El in there too, because in my world, Mexico fic without El doesn't work. But then I loved El for years before Sands even came along.

*gilelle* whee :) I sued to be a neew-faniish-obsession-every-month-or-two kinfd of a girl. then Mexico ate my brain. the current resident? the big bbad in my default icon, and his band. (accompanie by a pretty RUssian pop star) never thought THAT would happen.. but I digress :)

and yup, the fic definitely has El in it. cause he is Mexico, in some wasy... Fideo, ont he toher hand, i seme to have almsot completely forgotten. *facepalms* *goes ke at outline* Basically, the past I have for him is.. kind of complicated. inolves cartles, family killing family and so on. and the past that comes back to bite himthe ass All those things personfied in hi slittlest cousin who happened togrow up to be a gorgeous young woman. *pets poor Lori*

I have bene working onthis fic for a littl eshort of 2 years now and only have one part ready. so it is abit of an eternity project...

I've been reading your LJ, if not commenting much, since I don't really get it. Lordi are fun - we did finally get to watch the Eurovision via bitTorrent, though not in a language we understood!

In lots of ways, since it's his franchise! I've always thought OUaTiM did El something of a disservice in his role, because he felt like a supporting character, and he shouldn't be, dammit!

Fideo's an optional extra in a backstory, because there's no indication of how long ago they all hooked up. But I do like Fideo, and Lorenzo needs somebody to balance him out. But it's so typical of the Mexico-verse that the someone who balances him out is equally unstable, just in a different way....

Yerah - OuaTiM did a bit f a disservice to him that way.... the whole "ok, why is RR sticking 3 movies' worth of stuff in this?" thing kind of minimized El's part :(

that's true... the backstory gets told in fflashbacks, so it is not a horrible hardship to insert one or two involving FIdeo... plus, come to think of it, when Lorenzo gets dragged into helping his cousin, he could easily enough drag FIdeo along... *plotttyplotplot* either that, or FIdeo will die. *sigh*

I partly blame Tarantino for that - he was the one egging Rodriguez on to finish the trilogy with a 'The Good, The Bad and The Ugly'-style epic, but there's a reason that's a three hour film! Trying to cover that kind of scope in two was always going to result in an interesting failure.

Poor Fideo - his role in a great many fanfics does seem to be to die and cause Angst! Though Lorenzo takes that role too, often enough. But then Rodriguez did rather start the trend in killing off El's sidekicks, I suppose XD

Yeah - sometimes, their brainbabies just arre ugly *le sigh* Wonder what OuaTiM would have been like, had it been 2-parter like Kill Bill...

I know I have killed him off oonce *Blush* but that fic.. is kind of spcial. (and hs been int he worls since 2004, too, except that the first 2 parts are already somewhere oput there) it's a Lori/Sands fic where the poor ghuy has been on his own for a while cause FIdeo offed hismelf and El has disappeared off the face of the earth...

It would have helped the film a lot to have had more motivation and characterisation for people like Ajedrez - as it is, she's just a cipher, and seems pretty random. It's difficult for an audience to engage in any way, positive or negative, with characters who only have a few brief scenes in which they recite the plot.

Fideo does seem to like killing himself in fics too, yeah XD I guess it fits, since he's killing himself the slow way in canon. I really don't envy Lorenzo the Fideo-babysitting job, can't blame El for bailing on that one....

Hey, thanks! I've had such fun playing with Sands, but I couldn't have got to him right away - I had to approach him gradually, via El first. There are some differences in my fics from the Sands we see in most of the film, but then I think there would be....

Yes, I'm an incorrigible slasher, and not the least bit sorry for it XD But it's the characters and their worlds and their circumstances that make me fall in love with a fandom, and I'd hate to reduce their lives to just the sex, because that's not what these guys are about. So I'm especially glad to hear people appreciate all the other stuff in there that eats my brain!

Sands set up a commentary box in my head from the day I saw the film - there's something so wickedly delightful about a character who'll say and do anything XD - so it's good to hear you think he's steering me right. I definitely had no intentions of 'nice-ing' him out!
