...is when you drive to the pharmacy to get some drugs to let you sleep without a snotty nose and somebody rear-ends you on the way.

Note to 17-year old blonde girls driving Daddy's BMW - you might want to stop for the pedestrians at the crossing when all the other cars do. Preferably using the brakes.

ugh, that really, really sucks. I'm sorry. hopefully Daddy also has good insurance.

Oh, yeah, typical 5mph shunt. Only now I have the hassle of talking to insurance companies and arranging to get the car fixed and rental cars, when frankly I'd rather be writing porn.

I hope so too, since the insurance card she showed me was out of date. She assured me they'd renewed with the same company....

The car needs some cosmetic work, but it doesn't look like the structure's damaged - the boot still fits fine, unlike the last time someone did this to us.

And I did get to purchase the drugs that let me breathe while I sleep XD

I didn't see her doing either when I looked behind (that was my first thought too). She was just sitting there with this look of blank shock.

Eek! What major suckage to have to deal with all this while feeling sick. Using brakes to stop is always a good thing but it seems like not many teens think to do this as my co-worker also found out recently. *sighs*

Saw in your comments above that you weren't hurt and that your car just needs some minor repairs. Just be thankful that it wasn't the Seven you were in when this happened! XD

Hope the medicine will make you feel better even if all the insurance crap won't. *hugs*

I don't actually feel ill - I feel perfectly normal except for the nose thing, and that's only really annoying when it keeps waking me up all night! Hence the ill-fated drug run.

I am glad I wasn't in the Seven - not because I would have come to any harm, because I wouldn't, but waiting for parts to ship from overseas to fix imported cars is a real drag!

She wasn't on the cell phone, was she?

I'm sorry to hear it, but I'm glad you're all right. The only blackly satisfying thing about being rear-ended is that the car doing the rear-ending usually ends up a lot more damaged than the car that gets rear-ended.

*g* One of the first things she said was she wished she'd been in her own car, not her Dad's!

Of course, I didn't get a car of my own till I was 26, but hey....

Surprisingly, no, unless she dropped it really quickly, and I think she was too dumbstruck for that.

Oh, yeah, the BMW is going to need pretty much an entire new front end, the bonnet was bent too *eg*

Oh no! This rear-ending must be catching, first us and now you. Everyone OK?

*huggles* That sounds terrible. I hope you and the SO (assuming he was in the car) are all right. And that the car isn't in too bad of a shape. Did you go get checked out? At the least, some muscle relaxants for tomorrow would be good.

You're the second person I know of to have been rear-ended this weekend. WTF?

Ouch--I'm glad you're okay!

Some advice from the police end of things--check with her insurance company and make sure that she gave you real info and actually does have updated insurance. If she gave you fake info, you have 48 hours from the accident to call the police to file a hit and run police report. If they just don't have current insurance, then it could get really messy if they refuse to pay...

Don't want to be a downer, but as a recent transplant, thought you might like the tip. Hopefully you won't have to use it!

Yep, even the pedestrian! Luckily they hadn't started crossing. Fortunately, ours should be perfectly fixable.

Somehow my ten minute trip to the pharmacy ended up taking nearly an hour, but other than that and the hassle, no harm done.

My insurance company said they'd get straight onto hers immediately after I reported it, so I assume they'd have got back to me if there was a problem with the info. I'm talking to them again tomorrow anyway about the repairs, so I'll check then. But thanks!

Nah, just me all on my own with a shaking, weeping teenager XD

Didn't bother with a doctor, never have done before and this is the fourth time. And nothing like the hardest.

Lol, if it had been me, I would have forgotten all about the drugs until I got back home. Glad to see you've a much better memory and poise.

I hope you feel better soon.

Well, since the kid was a red-eyed, shivering wreck, I had to be the organised one and lend her a pen and make sure she got all the details of mine she needed as well as me getting hers. I even ended up staying with her while her parents showed up, 'cos I would have felt bad driving off and leaving her weeping parked by the roadside.

Sadly, I've done this crap often enough now that it just doesn't fluster me any more!

At least she didn't seem determined to blame you for everything. Last car accident I was in, that's what happened to me - even though the guy clearly crossed over into my lane.

Oh, yeah, we've met those lying bastards too - twice. One time we had a witness, the other time she finally backed down when we threatened to take it to court and make her commit perjury. Bitch.

Having taken one version of the US driving test, I was horrified by how easy and completely pointless it was. I hope that was just the test they give to foreigners who've been driving elsewhere for over a decade, because if that's the test they give to seventeen-year-olds, it's no wonder there are so many lousy drivers in this country.

No, I'm fine! Just the car to fix and various phone calls to make. Luckily she didn't hit me hard enough to make air bags go off, or I wouldn't have been able to drive home!

Whew ;_; Well at least you still have a car! I get all worried now when I see 'car wreck' in any one's entry. I have too many friends that have been getting hit by drunk drivers and stuff.. makes me worried to even drive now.

*hug*

Nah, this one wasn't drunk, just incompetent XD Fortunately I've never had a car totalled, that must be so inconvenient.
