Post-Once Upon a Time in Mexico fic. Sands/El (purely because, as
permetaform says, it sounds better that way XD).
No warnings, no nothing. If you're old enough to watch the films, you're old enough to read the fic. This is El Mariachi-verse, you know what you're getting!
65,000 words, or to steal a phrase from
mistressrenet, 'Where'd all this plot come from? Where'd the porn go?'
Not up at my site yet, so I'm pointing you to the Demon Pit for now, sorry!
EDIT:
Site gremlin gone, here's the non-polluted link XD
Welcome to three months of my life XD

Date: 2006-02-16 11:29 pm (UTC)I still can't figure out how the hell I missed this film, given that I'd owned the first two on video for years and loved them. 2003 was the year I took my derm exam, and I was a bit busy, but still... I knew there was a film of that name and that it grew a bit of a fandom, but I just never picked up the minor snippet that it was the third Mariachi film. Grrrr.
I miss the porn
I thought I would when I realised just how much plot I was going to have to write, but I was having so much fun with the dialogue through those sections, I actually didn't in the end! Not that it's the world's most original plot, but it was fun tweaking with the standard deal and poking at these guys' heads XD
Also, you write action really, really well.
Thanks! That's really good to hear, because I used to hate writing action and always leave those scenes till last, but I'm finding they flow much easier now. I'm glad it's not just because I'm taking short cuts and writing crap :-)

But I can always tell who writes it well. Most people don't, which is why those scenes in "Wires" were so good.

Date: 2006-02-18 11:19 pm (UTC)Writing the fight scenes for this fic was a really weird thing, because I was conscious of trying to write something OTT enough for Rodriguez to have filmed (El is nuts, after all, and you have to keep him that way XD), while still hanging a couple of fingernails into plausibility - it was a funny sort of compromise to hash through, because I think you can get away with some things in an action movie that would just seem silly written down! I'm very purry that you think it worked :-)
