So no gays - okay.

Read a little further - no sex (orientation irrelevant). No 'icky stuff'.

Oh, and look, the maintainer has on their interests list 'bashing democrats', 'chrisitanity' and 'ronald reagan'(!). Why don't they just be a little more upfront and call it the 'nothing_my_preacher_wouldn't_want_to_read_zone'?

So the next time we find one of those people, we now know exactly where to tell them to go! Yay! XD.

Yeah, you'd think a Christian would at least be able to spell their own religion properly. The really amusing thing is that if you click on that interest on their userinfo you'll find several dozen other "Chrisitans."

But a caring god will love them despite their sins, even one so drastic as illiteracy. As long as they're not gay, of course.

Charming.

I'm glad they only list 'battlestar gallactica' in their interests, not the show I watch. *g*

It's not often we find ourselves delighting in the illiteracy of those we share this earth with - we should enjoy it fully while we can :-)

UGH.

*sighs* I wish I could have forced these people to go to the banned books event I covered tonight and sit through the Burroughs reading. It would have made their heads explode.

Anything would make their heads explode. Even the Bible, if they bothered to read it instead of selected excerpts.

I definitely agree with you there. David and Jonathan, no one ever mentions them anymore

Her is part of her bio:

I am a 19-year-old nerd who enjoys discussing/writing about politics and civics, reading and writing fan fiction stories, and baseball. I was a gymnast for 7 years and currently have a job molding the next generation's Carly Pattersons. Someday I plan to get my JD in Constitutional law and teach other nerds. I also have an unhealthy obsession with science fiction and military hardware.

Thankfully, she certainly wouldn't get into my law school with her lack of spelling/grammar and incredibly unimpressive vocabulary :)

I hope it is still true that lawyers need to be able to spell, even if the rest of the world can't.

Wow - nothing like being blind to how you come across in public, is there? I'd just assumed she didn't care, but it seems she actually doesn't know. ::boggle::

wow. I like how she/he will "accept" fics for editing of spelling and punctuation when the person cannot even spell themselves. Also, the mod's name of "yankee_haters" is a little offputting as well.

I see the [livejournal.com profile] housefic comm members already told her in detail about the spelling, but she obviously doesn't believe them since she hasn't even fixed her religion. She knows the evil people who hate her are just trying to inspire more mocking by getting her to alter her perfect spelling.

Oh this is person is really over the edge. And look how she filling such a need that had been neglected. I mean, just look at how many people have flocked to add their stories to the community. Or maybe they have and they just couldn't make the grade. And the members list, wow, really impressive. ^.~

And there was I thinking there were so few members because it's a brand new comm. She didn't get much uptake from the 643 watchers of [livejournal.com profile] housefic, did she?

OMG. That's too funny. "Even if you write het fic, you can submit it there." I can't just see how many where anxious to cross post. Cause you can't cross dress on her comm! Thank you, no. I like my m/m stories. I think I'll have to pass on her generous offer to host stories. I sure as hell am not going to read any fic on her site. But that's what the back button is for. ^.~

*laughs* Wow, I've found the Anti-Me! I know there's a word for that, but, it's a bit too early for me.

Nothing beats "Chrisitanity" though. My word. XD

No 'icky stuff'? Little girls like that should even be exposed to people who know about 'icky stuff', they might actually learn something. And that would lead to intelligence. Can't have that!

I see she has quite a following... too bad they all have ropes in their hands. XDDD

She herself has even fewer friends than her comm does, which is going some.

Unfortunately, there's a good chance she's never really met anyone who doesn't think she like she does. Are you reading small town Bible Belt into this as strongly as I am? Poor kid probably never stood a chance of avoiding indoctrination.

And that is the trouble with the country. So many people are just sheep to their parents and community. They never try to see the whole world but are content to just stay isolated and ignorant. *sigh* And there are so many communities like that in the US.

That's the trouble with any big country. There are bigoted small towns in Britain, but you rarely have to travel more than 20-30 miles to find a city or large town where people have other ideas. It just isn't *possible* to raise your kids in utter isolation from the world, apart from some remote areas like northern Scotland. It doesn't stop some people from trying, it just doesn't work so well.

I'm reading 'small town Bible Belt' with 'raised in a religious family' and her only experience with 'icky' sex is with a boy who knew as little or less about it than she did. Not to mention, IF she's not a virgin, she was too repressed to enjoy it at all. She seems to me to be an immature young girl who's feeling threatened by anything that's different from what she was raised to think of as 'normal' and searching for her own identity not realizing that she's just a sheep...

Okay, that's just me practicing armchair psychology without a license. :D
