Bobcat!

We had a bobcat posing outside the house this morning. It's the first one I've seen this year - they do like to be secretive. Look at the fancy cheek fur!

He was a very cooperative subject for about 10 seconds there. Most of the time he was looking away into the trees or washing himself.

You get the best pictures of the beautiful wildlife in your area. I never seem to have a camera out/handy when cool things appear. That is a gorgeous bobcat! Have you seen signs of him before?

My camera sits here on my computer desk next to me. Anything I see out of the window that hangs around for thirty seconds or so can be got :-)

Some years we have a lot of rabbits on the lawn. Some years we hear a lot of coyotes near the house. Some years there are neither, and that's what tells us the bobcats are close by. We don't see or hear much of them, but we can infer their presence...

It would have been a better photo if I'd removed that dead plant in the foreground at some point this year, but I'm pretty lazy about the gardening!
