In reference to this post, I was hiking today around Mountain Lake on Orcas Island. We passed five or six family groups of hikers going the other way. About three miles in, one woman said the usual, 'Hi,' in passing, then stopped and did a double take. 'Do you see Dr Cullin? The chiropractor?' she asked.

Why, yes, I do go to that chiropractor's office, and there's a THREE HOUR JOURNEY between Mountain Lake and home and the chiropractor, including a ferry trip, and she picked me out at a five second interaction with zero context whatsoever.

But I would never pick out a random person I'd seen in passing at the chiropractor half way across the state, no matter how funny looking they were! Some people really make me realise how bad I am at faces.

That is slightly hilarious and more than slightly terrifying to contemplate, haha. I'm *abysmal* with faces, and so regularly get embarrassed when someone comes up to chat with me and I can't figure out how the hell I even know them, but at least it only tends to happen with people I've interacted with... well, more than that!

Me too! I'm awful at remembering people; it was embarassing back when I worked at the same place full time and I wouldn't recognise the clients. The animals I'd know, not so much the people.
