So we binge watched WandaVision, and we loved it. I like the way it's structured, with the first couple of episodes doing entirely their own thing, with just the slightest hints of what the hell is actually going on. And even when the truth is revealed, there are still enough lies and misdirections in there to keep you guessing along the way.
I've never rated Elizabeth Olsen as an actor before - she's never really made much of an impression on me at all in the few things I've seen her in - but she turns out to be great at the sitcom pastiche. She has perfect comic timing, and the mug-freeze-wait for the laugh thing of those old black and white series is nailed. And as the series goes on and the tone changes, she still does a decent job with the more serious scenes.
There are some great touches with the plotting and the details, such as the Hallowe'en costumes and the circus, and I love the how the fact that Quicksilver was played by two different actors in the X-Men films and the Avengers films was handled. The series was clearly written by people who were invested, who cared about the franchise and the comics.
It made me laugh and it made me cry, and what more could you ask for?
