Happy Void-Versary to Us!

January 28th is a year from when we brought the void cats home.

Because it's been basically a year, their vaccines were due, and I took them into work one day last week and stabbed them. The SO told me that Kuro bugged him the entire time we were gone, hanging round his ankles and nudging at him, and saying, 'Hey! Something's wrong! Have you noticed something's wrong?' Kuro refused to settle down or even be distracted by his favourite snake toy while they were gone.

The next day, both the void cats reacted to their vaccines. Yami wouldn't eat breakfast, and limped slightly on her right back leg from her rabies vaccine. Neko seemed fine in the morning, but got worse as the day went on, and they both curled up by the heating vents as little balls of lethargy and misery.

Kuro is normally a very dog-like cat, who always wants to be around the humans. If you leave the room, he'll wait five minutes in case you just went to the toilet, but after that he'll come and find you again and sit in whichever room you're in.

But not that day. He didn't come into the computer room with the humans at all. That day he sat two feet away from the tragic, pathetic little voids all afternoon and evening, and watched over them.

Kuro has become a very good grandpa to the weird adoptees we brought home and inflicted on him.

Awww, my heart :)

What lovely creatures you have brought into your home. So sad Boog isn't there to share in all the fun and love, but I'm so glad the voids make Kuro a very happy grandkitty!

I'm not so sure Boog would have been a sharer. He wasn't a cat who adapted well to change, and he was far less outgoing and sociable than Kuro. If Kuro had gone first, we would have had to think very hard about whather it was wise to adopt anybody else alongside Boog.

The voids have made Kuro very happy overall. He bounces all over the cat trees with them - not for as long as they do, but they've certainly increased his activity levels in his old age!

They are on the whole very well mannered and well intentioned voids. Not perfectly behaved - they're cats after all! - but about as good as we could have hoped for :-)

Poor little voids... such mean humans to poke them so! *grins* I hope they get back to their energetic ways soon so Kuro can be amused by their antics once again.

They were perfectly well and sproingling all over the house again the next day. Vaccine reactions are generally 24 hours and done, thankfully!

They generally seem to be very contented little voids. The arrangement has worked out well for everyone! Although Neko can be a bit too active and noisy and friendly at three or four in the morning!
