Cat post!

Among the things that arrived in the house this Christmas were some new cat beds.

Here's old man Kuro in the one I call the igloo.



We also got two reversible cat snugs that are red on one side and fluffly gold on the other. Here's Miss Yami on one of them, blearily wondering why I'm disturbing her with camera flashes.

Unfortunately the red and gold beds aren't very popular. People will sit on them occasionally, but they never crawl inside. I think the problem is the material they're made of - there seems to be an issue with static and the cats getting zapped.

The igloo, meanwhile, is popular with everyone, and there are some jealousy issues when someone goes to the igloo and OMG SOMEONE ELSE IS ALREADY INSIDE IT, HOW DARE YOU! I think we might have to acquire more igloos...

Oh, my cat would love one of those sack beds. She loves to crawl inside things. I have something similar to those beds.

Boog, the cat who died a year ago, he used to sleep in the bed under the covers in winter when it was cold. None of the current bunch will do that. They do love crawling into any random carrier bag left lying around on the floor, but they don't want to crawl into a specifically purchased cat sack. Go figure!

The igloo looks very nice and cosy.

Most cat beds I have ever bought, no cat wanted to go near. The biggest hit with mine are actually those corrugated cardboard boxes or baskets, they love them.

Our cats have generally favoured the cat beds, although they do also like perching on top of the cat trees. They kept sitting in the cat carriers which had nice fluffy bottoms, so we took the bottoms out and put them nearer to where we sit, and the cats moved along with them, which is why we ended up buying more cat beds in the first place.

I somehow missed this post. My void is lying in her own cat bed next to me at the desk (which is one cunning trick to reduce the amount of whining and stomping across my keyboard.) What a shame those pretty red and gold beds aren't popular. Maybe when the humidity rises?

Ours don't fight over beds, although early on, Shula found Jana in her favourite cat palace and decided to deal with the unavailability by climbing on top of it and squishing Jana inside :) Mostly they just switch around wherever they're comfortable. It helps we have a millions places for cats to rest their butts :)

We have a cat tree in the computer room between our two desks and that's always a popular place to sit. Yami and Neko used to sit one on top and one in the hole just below, but for some reason that's fallen out of favour lately. Now there's usually a cat on the top, but I haven't seen anyone in that hole in months.

Sometimes one cat on the top of the cat tree will find that another cat comes along and shoves their way on board, when there isn't really room for two! If it's Yami and Neko, that turns into a wrestling match until one of them bails.
