Things changed when I wasn't looking

I'm planning to cosplay at RDC5, which is going to require me to wear foundation for the first time in thirty years. Until today, I hadn't been near the make-up counters in a department store since I was a teenager.

There wasn't a woman in sight. All the counters were staffed by cute little twenty-something guys. It seems there's been a sea change over the last generation!

I'm not sure I approve of men being considered the best people to judge what a woman needs to wear (top male clothing designers tend to make clothes that only work on skinny boobless women - or men.) I'm sure they're scenic but all it means is that the money is finally good enough to attract male applicants, and a prejudice against women providing advice.

On a lighter note, what character are you playing?

To be fair, the guy I got knew exactly what he was doing. He looked at me for five seconds, reached into the racks of a couple of hundred foundations and grabbed a perfect match first time. As long as he's good at the job, I don't care what gender he is!

I'm going to cosplay Will Graham - I need foundation so I can paint stubble on over the top of it, since I won't be growing any of my own XD

I haven't seen that, but I don't go to cosmetic counters either. Usually, I just grab what I like at a department store. Interesting though. I guess it doesn't matter as long as they know what they're doing.

As an aside: More men are wearing makeup than ever before too.

It would be hard for men to wear less makeup than they did thirty years ago! Except the ones in the New Romantics bands, they wore plenty.
