We just beat Tier 2 Challenge mode in the Flight to the Lonely Mountain raid in Lord of the Rings Online. I know that won't mean anything to any of you, but the raid is almost nine months old, and we're only the second kin on the server to beat Challenge. The first kin got it a month ago. This shit ain't easy, yo.

Congrats! While I'm not familiar with the game in specific, knowing the genera in general makes me appreciate the achievement!

This raid is a survival raid. Timer is 10 minutes. 10-12 mobs per wave, new waves triggered by which mobs you kill in the previous wave, in which order. Challenge mode is not just to survive the 10 minutes, but to kill a minimum number of mobs, so you have to keep them spawning at a certain rate. Some of the mobs summon other mobs - the adds unfortunately don't count towards the kill total. There are certain mobs you can't kill, just have to keep tanking, or they spawn yet another extra wave. And then there's one particularly nasty mob that spawns randomly, but on average once a minute, and has to die near-instantly before it starts one-shotting people.

It's a crazy balance of control, strat on the kill order, and how fast you dare dps. And not letting the AOE champs kill the wrong mobs by accident, or oops!

That actually sounds really cool and fun, but yes, I can totally see the challenge, especially with making sure people follow the proper order and don't go too AoE crazy. Congratulations again!
