Family and Bear Rescue

The family aren't coming. Their flight was cancelled a second time, and they've given up. No problem with the weather this time, but the plane that was supposed to fly them out of Manchester at 6am didn't make it into Manchester last night for some reason that is now immaterial. Suggestions as to how two people can consume their way through a 12lb turkey will be gratefully received!

iibnf usually sponsors a bear rescued from a bile farm on behalf of her f-list, but this year she is unable to do it. So for the fabulous person herself, and her f-list, and throwing in you lot here as a bonus, I am now sponsoring a bear. I'll let you know which bear as soon as I find out.

Mama-san always looks forward to the left-over turkey the day after. I make turkey enchiladas and it also freezes beautifully afterwards :)
Unlike usual when we have Italian for Christmas, this year, FH decided he wanted another turkey. So... turkey it is. And the enchiladas afterwards. Anything that you usually make with chicken, you can substitute the turkey for.
And I'm sure your two fuzzy kids wouldn't mind helping you with it. ^^
Hope you and your SO have a wonderful holiday -- even if it's with less people than originally planned! *hugs*

Date: 2009-12-25 06:57 am (UTC)I did manage to hack a leg and a breast off the turkey and freeze them for later - so now we only have a little over half a turkey to deal with in the next few days 0_0
Good luck tomorrow with your own cooking!

Date: 2009-12-25 04:43 pm (UTC)Throw the remainder in a cooking/baking bag and throw it in the oven. Once cooked there are so many things you can do with it :)
Funny thing, it was thinking about cooking that woke me up this morning! The ingredients for enchiladas were going through my head and I woke up when I realized I didn't have any corn tortillas or cheddar cheese! Oh NOES! XD
Must go buy some either today or tomorrow morning :p
Happy holidays to you and your SO! *hugs*

Date: 2009-12-25 11:14 pm (UTC)After it "rests" for another half hour we can eat. Then, the time table for tomorrow got moved up so the enchiladas will be for lunch. After that, FH's parents will stay the night at his brother's house before leaving for Arizona on Sunday morning :)
Next week FH has to go back to work so I get some quiet "me" time. *does happy dance*

Date: 2009-12-25 07:01 am (UTC)Oh, we'll be fine. Not sure the same can be said for my family, who have no tree or decorations up, and little food in the house!

Date: 2009-12-25 11:17 pm (UTC)Christmas pudding is essentially a very heavy, very rich and spicy fruit cake, often made with alcohol (traditionally brandy, but many other beverages have been adapted to the cause!). Wikipedia has an article for more details (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Christmas_pudding).
