Chapter Six - 'MAMORI ERU MONO' The kanji here can be translated a whole bunch of different ways, but something along the lines of 'A person finds protection' or 'A person can protect'.
Livio has a flashback to the orphanage, when he saved a younger kid who fell from the roof. (Wolfwood, of course, was up the top trying to grab her before she fell). He's thinking it's time for him to protect someone once again.

He faces off with Elendira. Elendira's carrying her briefcase/giant nail-gun. She's taken Livio by surprise turning up in the town like this.

And she takes him by surprise again, firing a nail which he doesn't quite dodge. It clips the side of his face, and Livio remembers exactly why he wasn't looking forward to fighting her. (He always refers to her as a guy - not too politically correct, is Livio XD)

Livio pulls himself together again, but Elendira is fast.

They have a little chat for a couple of pages. Elendira's fairly impressed, but says she would have expected no less. She tells him he's gone soft, though, wanting to protect things, that nothing stays the same. She says she hates kind people. "I wonder if I shouldn't kill you quickly?" Livio turns his guns on her...

...but Elendira's too fast and a quick blast of nails sends Livio literally flying.

Elendira's wondering if that's the end of the fight and approaches the Livio-shaped hole in the wall fairly casually. A crowd has been attracted by the noise, and one guy starts to tell Elendira to go and fight somewhere else, but he shuts up fast when she gives him the glare of death.
Livio grazes Elendira with a bullet as he emerges. "I'm not dead. We're not dead. Humanity will survive."

Livio tells her that 'that man' (Vash) lives his life as best he can, whereas her people just do what they like. "Ah, I see," says Elendira. "In that case, you are useless."
She shoots a bunch of nails right through him.

The watching crowd scream and run away. Elendira wonders what it is about Vash that does this to people.

A group of kids are peering at her from behind a wall. She tells them to bury Livio, that he was fighting to protect them, and then she walks away. (Why am I not surprised she doesn't know about Livio any more than Wolfwood did? XD)

Livio apologises to the kids for the things they saw, and tries to reassure them as best he can.

Livio tells the kids they're cute and starts laughing at the idea that he was once a kid like them. The kids look really freaked when he starts laughing, and he apologises again.
They look even more freaked when he stands up and starts pulling nails out of himself. Livio asks them if they have anyone looking after them, and the kids don't answer. "I see," he says. "I'm sorry."

Then a woman runs in and hurls herself at the kids. She bawls them out thoroughly for disappearing when the Ark is around. She was really worried about them with all the commotion. "Sorry!" chorus the kids.

She finally notices Livio, and hopes the kids weren't bothering him, a reaction which rather surprises him *g*. And then she notices the state of his clothes with all the blood and the holes. She insists on giving him her cloak to replace his. Livio says goodbye to the kids and tells them all to take care. The kid with the oversized hat chases after him and throws the hat at him. Livio's really surprised by all the generosity and goes on his way all heart-warmed.

The man still has a mision, and the Ark has reached town. Star Calendar Year 114, 21st July 11:31 and 26 seconds.

And that, folks, is the end of the shiny new TriMaxes I have for you. Until the final one in god knows how many months anyway.
I'll go back to getting some doujinshi translated now, but I might scan in some pages from earlier volumes of TriMax too. I know people have said it makes a difference seeing the scans, even when they already know the plot. I guess I'll start with 5, since 4 is out in English now, and work through back up to 10.
I must get some writing done too, though. The fic that was at 3,000 words in January when Mum came is still only at 5,500, which is sad. I want to get it finished before too long, so no promises on scans and stuff just yet.
