Chapter Six - 'MAMORI ERU MONO' The kanji here can be translated a whole bunch of different ways, but something along the lines of 'A person finds protection' or 'A person can protect'.

Livio has a flashback to the orphanage, when he saved a younger kid who fell from the roof. (Wolfwood, of course, was up the top trying to grab her before she fell). He's thinking it's time for him to protect someone once again.

He faces off with Elendira. Elendira's carrying her briefcase/giant nail-gun. She's taken Livio by surprise turning up in the town like this.

And she takes him by surprise again, firing a nail which he doesn't quite dodge. It clips the side of his face, and Livio remembers exactly why he wasn't looking forward to fighting her. (He always refers to her as a guy - not too politically correct, is Livio XD)

Livio pulls himself together again, but Elendira is fast.

They have a little chat for a couple of pages. Elendira's fairly impressed, but says she would have expected no less. She tells him he's gone soft, though, wanting to protect things, that nothing stays the same. She says she hates kind people. "I wonder if I shouldn't kill you quickly?" Livio turns his guns on her...

...but Elendira's too fast and a quick blast of nails sends Livio literally flying.

Elendira's wondering if that's the end of the fight and approaches the Livio-shaped hole in the wall fairly casually. A crowd has been attracted by the noise, and one guy starts to tell Elendira to go and fight somewhere else, but he shuts up fast when she gives him the glare of death.
Livio grazes Elendira with a bullet as he emerges. "I'm not dead. We're not dead. Humanity will survive."

Livio tells her that 'that man' (Vash) lives his life as best he can, whereas her people just do what they like. "Ah, I see," says Elendira. "In that case, you are useless."
She shoots a bunch of nails right through him.

The watching crowd scream and run away. Elendira wonders what it is about Vash that does this to people.

A group of kids are peering at her from behind a wall. She tells them to bury Livio, that he was fighting to protect them, and then she walks away. (Why am I not surprised she doesn't know about Livio any more than Wolfwood did? XD)

Livio apologises to the kids for the things they saw, and tries to reassure them as best he can.

Livio tells the kids they're cute and starts laughing at the idea that he was once a kid like them. The kids look really freaked when he starts laughing, and he apologises again.
They look even more freaked when he stands up and starts pulling nails out of himself. Livio asks them if they have anyone looking after them, and the kids don't answer. "I see," he says. "I'm sorry."

Then a woman runs in and hurls herself at the kids. She bawls them out thoroughly for disappearing when the Ark is around. She was really worried about them with all the commotion. "Sorry!" chorus the kids.

She finally notices Livio, and hopes the kids weren't bothering him, a reaction which rather surprises him *g*. And then she notices the state of his clothes with all the blood and the holes. She insists on giving him her cloak to replace his. Livio says goodbye to the kids and tells them all to take care. The kid with the oversized hat chases after him and throws the hat at him. Livio's really surprised by all the generosity and goes on his way all heart-warmed.

The man still has a mision, and the Ark has reached town. Star Calendar Year 114, 21st July 11:31 and 26 seconds.

And that, folks, is the end of the shiny new TriMaxes I have for you. Until the final one in god knows how many months anyway.

I'll go back to getting some doujinshi translated now, but I might scan in some pages from earlier volumes of TriMax too. I know people have said it makes a difference seeing the scans, even when they already know the plot. I guess I'll start with 5, since 4 is out in English now, and work through back up to 10.

I must get some writing done too, though. The fic that was at 3,000 words in January when Mum came is still only at 5,500, which is sad. I want to get it finished before too long, so no promises on scans and stuff just yet.

Nightow impresses me with Livio. This is the guy who killed Wolfwood, and six chapters later Nightow has me liking him and empathising with him. That's some going. But Livio's trying so damn hard at this point it's just impossible to keep disliking him. (The hair thing is scary, though, because he really does look like Chapel!)

I don't personally find Elendira hot, so you'll have to explain that one to me when you figure it out XD

Since Angsty pretty much said everything I was going to (except I think you should start with 6, since 5 is all translated on Sumire's site and I own it, but that's your call), I'll just say why Elendria's hot. She's noir-looking-- she's like Brigid O'Shaunessy or something, just radiating cool and class in this filthy, Wild-West world they're in.

(Is that a new icon, the Meryl one? I like it.)

Well, 5,6 and 7 have all been fully translated it's a question of whether people want to see some pics to go with them. Otherwise, I could just run through 8 and 9.

I can see what Elendira's aiming for with the look, she's just missing slightly for me. Something in the way she's drawn.

The icon's been around a month or so now, probably, so it's not that new. But thanks XD

The nails are pretty cool - sometimes there are advantages to an overkill weapon XD. And the fact that she's so fast with them Livio can barely get a shot in.

That was pretty good. It is worrying how sexy Ellendra is, though. And it's very sad how that's the last of them. ): But yeah, cheers for doing them for us. They've been great reads and it's really nice to have the scanns to know what's going on.

Oooh, I like what you've done with the colours in that icon. That's great.

Thank you, if I make some more (possibly using that technique... I like the way it turned out,) would you be interested in putting them on-line for me? I don't think I've got any image hosting facilities, you see...

What do you mean by putting them online? My website isn't my own space, it's borrowed from a friend as a favour, so I can't display them all nicely on a webpage for you. If you want to put them up somewhere so you can display them in an LJ post or something for everyone to admire, there are quite a few free image hosting sites around now, so you could organise your own via photobucket or picaroni. Photobucket much gives better image organisation (ie any) and the no porn rule likely won't apply to you! XD

oh!

Livio do his best...but I still miss Wolfwood so much. The woman looks like the girl that livio saved.
And the child looks like the captain Harlock's best friend! ><
Thank for all, Tiggy!! I still check up your page, waiting for more!!

Wolfwood just can't be replaced.

The woman looks like the girl that livio saved.

I think she's supposed to be. Livio calls her Jasmine in his head, which was the name of the girl. Maybe she just reminds him of her, though, I'm not entirely clear on that.

First I'd like to say thanks for taking the time to scan all of this stuff. I know it takes awhile to crop the pictures and everything. Second, I'm going to give Nightow the finger for leaving me hanging again. Bastard.

I do look forward to seeing more writing from you. The stuff I read was really good.

The scanning, cropping and picture enhancing is actually pretty fast - I've got that down to almost a reflex in photoshop now. My hands guide the mouse to the right buttons to click in sequence without my brain needing to be there much XD. The slow part's the translating, and to a lesser extent composing the posts. And hey, I'd be translating it anyway for me, so it's not that much effort to share. But I really want book 12 - now, please, Nightow!

Thanks for the writing comment. I know our pairings don't intersect, so I'm glad it's worth your time to read! You've written some really good stuff yourself, I'm glad [livejournal.com profile] yma2 pointed me in your direction.

My scanner is a bitch to me so it takes me forever to do anything with it. (Although on the good days, it does go pretty fast.) I wish I had some 1337 translating ski11z. Then I could translate my doujinshi. *drool*. I really should start making my own in english so people can buy it and go, OMG! Smut in ENGLISH! hazzah~ ..or something.

No problamo. I don't mind a good VxW every once in awhile. And you have all those snappy lines in your fics that make me laugh, like.. I can't remember which one it's in.. I think it's "Interlude" that has a description with the line, "this planet could have been made by Legato". Why, thank you~! I didn't know I came recommended! (That sounded extremely wrong, but I'm sure someone will laugh reading it.) Awesomeness. I will have to give her extra hugs for that.

The market for English language doujinshi is wide open. People are obviously desperate for it. You should do it. If I had any real leanings towards artistic talent, I'd definitely be making doujinshi instead of trying to turn the movies in my head into words!

And you have all those snappy lines in your fics that make me laugh

Thank you! I tend to be mostly about the angst and I couldn't write comedy for anything, but I try to put snark in here and there to alleviate the dullness XD

Just out of curiousity... where did the band "Terra firma" come from? My cousin used to be in a band with the same name, so now I'm all kindsa curious.

Terra Firma's the track, Delerium's the band, so no connection. Sorry.

Thanks! It's been fun to do, actually. I've only scanned parts of the chapers to give people the idea - there is much more fun to see in the books :-) I love Nightow so much.

Nightow is my personal god. :) I have all the Japanese Trigun Maximum books and I'm collecting the english as well. I was wishing I had a scanner so I could show friends online how cute Vash and Meryl's kissy-fist thing, but you made my wish come true! PLUS, you've translated a bunch of it as much as you could! I love you!! And I agree, having the books in your hands is so much more... fulfilling. Please, please! Keep up the great work. <3

I seem to know a surprising number of people who are doing that. We're not all that obsessive, really, are we? ;-)
