I hate cleaning. And since [livejournal.com profile] kiriko_moth and [livejournal.com profile] jambery are flying in tomorrow morning to spend the weekend, today has been the Great Cleaning Day of this year so far. But I've finally beaten the house into the state of submission where all I need to do is hoover tomorrow before they arrive, and I've had a bath, so at this point I'm all warm and relaxed and happy.

My camellia flowered in the front garden. At the London house, we had a glorious red camellia that I was sad to leave behind, and I'd been watching the one at the new house develop its smothering of buds and wondering what colour it what turn out to be. And it appears that I still have a glorious red camellia, so I'm happy :-)

I saw the first rufous hummingbird of the year today. All the summer birds are coming back :-)

What a lovely camellia! I have a red camellia in front of my house, but it's not as big as yours.

I am so ready for spring!

I do, of course, have the previous owners to thank for its presence, but I claim ownership now just the same :-)

Oh that's so very lovely. Looks like spring has sprung by you! ^__^ I'm so happy that your camellia turned out to be red. Have a great visit with friends!

I wish spring had sprung a little more, the weather's been so dismal the last ten days I could barely get enough natural light to photograph the blooms!

It should be a fun visit, we're going to the Seattle Erotic Art Festival. Somehow all my friends' visits tend to be about the pron XD

It's funny the things we latch onto, sometimes, isn't it?

I was looking at some three times the size in the park yesterday - it might take a while for mine to manage that!

At least they'll grow for you! The tragedy of living in Zone 3.

One of the good things about moving from London to Seattle is that the climate's almost the same and all my old plant friends should grow here just as well. It would have been hard to adapt my gardening to a whole new set of conditions.

Of course, thanks to global warming, I feel like every winter brings a different climate, but that's another story...

Those are absolutely gorgeous camellias! Lucky you! Glad to hear the cleaning is all done- it can be a pain, but friends are good for inspiring it in the first place. Enjoy the w/end with them!

Definitely having fun, and it's a good thing there's something to kick me into the cleaning every now and then or I hate to think what the house would deteriorate into!

Oh, how beautiful. My tiny little one we put in last year is still just taunting us with buds. I can't wait to see what it ends up looking like. I'll be happy with anything though. After the icky ice we got this winter, I'm just glad the poor thing is still alive.

I don't think they care about what the winter's like, as long as they don't get hit too hard by frosts after the buds appear. That can destroy a potentially good crop of flowers. Good luck with yours!
