The scanlations I saw were by Puchiko, and even with my level of Japanese they were *very* ropy (and my take was later confirmed by the Dark Horse translations). For instance TriMax 8 p134, where Wolfwood tells Vash, 'Don't worry, I'm not dying yet.' And the scanlations had it as Wolfwood telling Vash *you* won't die yet, which is a pretty basic error of interpretation!

Honestly, I'm amazed that no one's called Puchiko on her scanlations. I know some people are geniuses, but when I was 15 I was a nightmarishly bad fanbrat of a writer who wouldn't have known around 70 percent of what I know now about writing in English, and thankfully just kept my writing practice at an original on paper that I hope no one ever sees.

I just can't get my head around the idea of a 15 year old (even one as smart as Puchiko) knowing Japanese and English both well enough to translate better than someone who has likely had years of experience and is being paid to do it with something more than the admiration of fans on the internet.

And yeah, mixing up who's speaking is pretty easy to do sometimes, but that really throws the reliability of the translation into serious dispute.

When I get my hands on 10, I'll take a look at the Japanese and see where that was coming from.

THANK YOU. *glomps*\
