Vash character recs

Okay, so I can drag the Vash essay together and make something coherent out of it, I'm pretty sure.

Now I have this minor problem of fic recs. Because, you know, I could rec quite a few fics where Vash and Wolfwood fuck each other silly, but that would have been a different essay. I know I can dig out some fics to rec that are about Vash's relationship with Wolfwood and are almost platonic if you squint at 'em right. But actual Vash character fics? That aren't dull internal monologues written by teenage girls on ffnet? I am hitting such a blank it's not funny.

Anybody? Help?

This is the second time I've heard these character essays mentioned - what are you writing them for? mistressrenet was talking about one for Wolfwood.

Yeah, it's all mistressrenet's fault that I'm doing one. She has this sneaky way of roping people in! (Just ask uiggu)

They're for reflections_2, a comm which is assembling character essays for various animes. The essay's the easy part, it's the links we have to pull together that are going to give us grief. Some fandoms have some character studies - Yami does, for starters - but Trigun's not one of them as far as I can see. It's all about the het, the yaoi or the Mary Sue's.

Check out the Master List to see which chara's are missing (that's still a lot of them) and sign yourself up for one on the sign-up sheet. Then you just negotiate a posting date.

Hey, thanks for the link. I might well use this one. Unlike Wolfwood vids, there's plenty of decent Vash vids to choose from, but I'd prefer to stick to ones that are directly downloadable rather than going via amv.org, since there's a wait for new members.

Werd. I was surfing around after joining AMV but in that 40 day wasteland; came in under the shadow of Otaku-Ven's red rock...they've got a r0xx0rZ Bebop vid in there too, somewhere.

You got me thinking, so I went hunting, and you're right. Aside from some of teh hawt sex fics, there are few if any Vash-centric ones that aren't pubescent pretention. Sad, really.

Glad it's not just me misremembering on the Vash fics. I might have to go dredging myself just to double check, but I think my essay will just end up explaining that's not what Trigun fandom focuses on.

Hi... um... I've a few suggestions, though how good they are I've no idea...
Hate by Chruken(sp?) is good, the first chapter concentrates on all of Vash's negative aspects, which is fun. Earth to Earth by Ravenclaw(something or other, a load of numbers I can't remember..) is also excellent. Though unfinished.
There's also another fic at the momment, Rising Stars I think it's called... or Rising Silver Stars or something. It's not 'character' based but it has a very 'anime,' feel about it. I'll see if I can think up some more for you. I hope I've helped.
