Joining the covid club

Just to confirm what we already know, that covid 19 is still out there and still being a major pain in the arse, we now have it. We successfully dodged it for four years, but no longer. If only we lived in one of those Asian countries where a lot of people decided after SARS that wearing masks in public was just A Good Idea.

I had no desire to run on myself the experiment of, 'I wonder what long time side effects this newly manufactured and very different virus might turn out to have in ten or twenty years' but apparently I don't get that choice.

Very sorry, hon. We've dodged it thus far but at the price of severely limiting what we do and where we go, as well as assiduous mask wearing whenever we go indoors in public.

That's what we did too. But I get paxlovid now because I'm officially old, so at least I waited to get it until there was a proven treatment option around.

Me too! But it's still going to screw me over for a significant chunk of the summer hiking season, which makes me Displeased.

Ugh, that sucks. I also do not want to see what long term effects Covid has, though I know I'll get it sooner or later.

I'm sure you know to get more rest than you think you need. Be a layabout for weeks if you can, instead of forcing yourself to do something because you're 'mostly over it'.

I know, I know! And I've seen the science stuff about how covid fucks with your muscles and you shouldn't try to use them for at least 6 weeks, which is really giving me the hump since it's screwing me over for a big chunk of the summer hiking season...

Well, that just sucks. You've been so careful for so long. I'm sorry to hear it finally caught up with you and SO. Hopefully, the symptoms are mild and will not screw with you more than absolutely necessary.
