First off, the important one - Happy Birthday Sasha! (Though I expect she'll be far too busy watching the tennis to read my LJ, but the sentiment remains :-) )

And secondly, it's a year today since I discovered Trigun. (I'm not as sad and geeky as that makes it sound, really. The only reason I know the exact date is because I watched my first eps 4 days before I started the exams I'd spent the last four years working towards, and those dates are engraved in my brain. Four days before exams is a really lousy time to smack headlong into a new fandom, for the record.)

I haven't fallen for a fandom this hard since the first one 12 years ago. And unlike so many others over the years, a year along it shows no sign at all of wearing off.

You have been warned....

Fortunately I did pass the exams. And once they were gone, I spent the next 48 hours mainlining Trigun!

Happy anniversary! You have no idea how happy you've made me to know that your obsession with this fandom isn't likely to wear off anytime soon. *grins*

Lol. I was looking at your icon wondering what the hell a Volkswagon had to do with Trigun. After a few minutes, it came to me. (I'm really quick that way sometimes.) :D

I'm working on the assumption that VW won't bother to come after me for nicking the logo from their website and applying it to my porn preferences :-)

Oh, goody -- could you explain it to me? (I'm really dense that way sometimes.) ::g::

V = Vash
W = Wolfwood

I'm thinking that Vash is the seme and tops Wolfwood. *biiiiig grins*

Well, you know me, I'm not too fussy about who's doing what as long as they're doing something to each other ;-) But it's always fun to buck a trend!

Touch wood! TOUCH WOOD!!11! :D

And just out of curiosity, what was 'the first fandom' of 12 years ago? Something deliciously embarrassing?

Blake's 7. Which most people insist is really embarassing, and I maintain is an intermittently brilliant series with scripts by some of the best people who were writing that kind of TV at the time, but everyone only remembers the horribly cheap production values. It has shades-of-grey 'heroes' who become progressively darker and more corrupted, and covers topics that no other show would have touched with a fifty foot pole at that time. I loved the hell out of that series as a kid, and when the video releases started I was utterly astonished to discover that it was much better than I remembered it because I'd been way too young to pick up on the depth of the writing the first time round.

It's no longer a fandom I'm active in (I got dragged away by slash, and I don't see slash in it, though a lot of people do), but I still love that series and I'll still defend it!

My mum adores Blake's 7! She has every episode on video and is forever defending it against her family's scepticism. I've watched a couple of eps and have to admit found it strangely compelling. My mum now really, really likes you. XD

Awww, good to know somebody loves me :-)

Show me any other series that opens with the hero hiding in an alley while his friends are killed and then being framed for paedophilia. Sometimes I wonder why my mum ever let me watch more of it after that, given that I was six.

Hi Tiggy, Just wanted to say "Hi" and let you know that I'm not some stalker that has friended you. ~.^ Tam recommended that I read up on your wonderful stories and I will as soon as I get back in town again. Juts thought since we had mutual friends and would probably be meeting up at Yaoicon, that I'd get to know you a little better.

Hi! That's okay, I've seen you around on Tam's LJ, so I'm not too paranoid ;-)
Tam does seem like to like pimping me, so I hope you're not too disappointed!

I doubt I'll be disapointed, now just for some time to do some quality reading. Not like I don't already like the concept of Vash and Wolfwood. Just needed the nudge to go check out the fandom.

Take care and talk to you soon!

late anniversary comments?

Gahhh you had a Trigun celebration and I missed out? What planet was I on? So did you have Vash and Wolfwood jump out of the cake and go at it - drools. Well I am happy to hear you plan to be around this fandom for a while. As I plow through the mangas . . . I may still have many questions . . . you've been forewarned!
