Sun, Lake and Cars

Every Sunday morning, there's an unofficial car show at Madrona Park in Seattle. I believe some photographers started it - they got a few people they knew with interesting cars to take them to a pretty location on Lake Washington. The photos went up on Instagram, other people with cars brought theirs along the next time, and it's grown and become A Thing. It's a bizarre mix of classic cars (some pristine, some rather less so!), souped up Japanese cars, hot hatches, modern icons; everything turns up sooner or later.

Yesterday was busier than it sometimes is - the sun brought out more exhibits! An original Fiat 124.





Lamborghini Gallardo between a M-series BMW and a souped up Cadillac wagon.



McLaren 670S and a couple of 60s era Porsche 911s (one was technically a 912, but the principle is the same).



A beautifully detailed and maintained Chevy Impala. The cleaning spray and polishing cloths were in the rear seat!





A Ford Elite next to a similar era Caddy.



It's a fun way to spend an hour or so, and you never know what you'll see :-)

The McLaren, the Lambo or the Impala? ;-) Green seemed to be something of a theme for the day!

Do you usually go? Are cars a Thing for you? (The pictures are cool! Not my usual milieu but I have enough association to appreciate, anyway.)

When the SO and I met in college, I was the one with posters of black Lamborghinis on my wall. Around twenty years ago, we had a conversation that went like this: "Do you want kids?"

"No, not really, do you?"

"No, not really, I'd rather have cats and cars."

And so now we have cats and cars. Two people, two cats, four cars (three for the road, and one that's exclusively for the racetrack). All of them cost less than children!

We only found out about this particular car thing a couple of months ago, but we trot along when the mood takes us :-) No photos of our cars this time, they were dirty and needed washing! But here is a photo of two of them from when they were clean.



So, yes, the short answer is we do the Car Thing :-)

Children are definitely the ultimate money-and-energy sink, haha.

I can't see the picture for some reason, but it's neat that you race!

oooh, very nice! I want to go to our Easter car show at Forest Park this year. Over 125 cars, all makes and models. I haven't been in years; it's time I made it back. I think it's the start of the Car Show Season here :)

We do the All British Field Meet every year in July - a ton of MGs and Morgans and E-type Jaguars (gorgeous all in a row) and a riotous mix of everything else. There are many hundreds of cars, it's a real attention-grabber. It used to be held in a massive car park - it got a lot more scenic several years ago when it moved to the grounds of an old seminary!
