More Maui Diving - the Carthaginian Wreck

The 98 foot steel Carthaginian II was built in 1920 and converted into a replica of a whaling ship for the whaling museum in Lahaina. When the boat rusted to the point of being unseaworthy, it was cleaned up and sunk as an artificial reef in 2005.

The dive charters will time dropping you on the wreck to coincide with the visits by the electric Atlantis submarines, which operate out of Lahaina and allow non-divers to visit the reefs. Down on the sandy bottom below the wreck, white-tipped reef sharks spend the day sleeping.

Yes, someone did put a Sponge Bob toy on the side of the wreck...

The water is so clear! So many different things in the water that I was trying to see everything all at once... but was mostly looking for SpongeBob. Once I saw him I could focus more on the beautiful scenery. XD

I'll need to watch this a few more times to see all the things I missed before :)

The water clarity at the wreck was really good, especially considering how much rain there's been in the previous days. This dive took place just a couple of hours after the one at Mala Pier, and the visibility was much better at the wreck (partly due to it being further from shore).

Sponge Bob is cunningly placed right at the end to keep people looking XD (Actually he happened to be at the end of the video I shot as we were heading up, but still...)

LOL at Spongebob! It took me a while to recognize him...

I'm not sure how secure Sponge Bob is there on his little ledge, but nothing's grown on him, so I don't think he'd been there too long!

And thanks :-) Sometimes I can't find any music that really seems to fit, and I end up just picking something that is okay, and other times like this one, it feels perfect.
