Chapter Six - "CONFLICT"


I had to stop myself scanning basically all of this, because, damn, it's Vash.

Page 159. Knives comes out to meet Vash and tries to convince him again that humans aren't worth it.


Page 161. He explains to Vash exactly what the black hair means - and then he attacks with a long ribbon of Angel feather.


Pages 162-3. Vash leaps away and fights back with both guns.


Pages 164-5. Knives throws up a wall of Angel shielding, and every one of Vash's bullets is just stopped. And then Knives' Angel wing begins to reform...


Page 166. ...into a mass of Angel guns.


Page 168. Legato, Elendira and Wolfwood wait and 'chat' downstairs, while up above the dust clears and Vash is finding himself in trouble....


Page 170. But he won't give in. Not in the fight, and not in their endless argument. Much love for the bottom panel.


Page 171. I don't need half of these to tell the story, just to drool over. Vash is so hot when he's all pissy and stubborn XD.


Page 174. But they're not going to argue for long, and the fight is back on, with Vash finding the same problem as earlier - Knives' Angel shielding is just too good.


Page 176. Knives is sprouting ever more dramatic Angel forms, and the other Plant Angels he was linked with are screaming.


Page 179. Bullets have done nothing for Vash, so he switches strategy and begins to form his own Angel Arm.


Page 180. But Knives has no intention of watching his brother burn himself out, and he spears Vash through his Angel Arm before it's fully formed.


Page 181. With the Angel Blade still pinning Vash, Knives begins to fuse with him...


Page 182. Legato arrives, yelling at Knives to stop. Knives starts screaming.


Page 184. Knives pulls back from Vash, digesting the full implications of what Conrad said about Vash being more powerful - he can't fuse with Vash, because it won't be Knives who ends up in control. And so now Knives owes his life to a mere human XD. He also admits that drawing power from the other Plants is having an effect on his thinking, and leaves Legato in charge of holding Vash.


So at the end of the book, Knives prepares the Ark for take-off, and everything's going very badly wrong. Not exactly new in Trigun!

Sadly, that's the end of the scans I had already uploaded, so TriMax 8 will have to wait til I'm back home :-(

Vash says that the Plant gestalt thing is mind-fucking Knives later on too. Knives' attitude certainly changes from here on in, with some major changes of opinion. He seems to go from stubborn obsessive to genuinely crazy.

Loved the scans though, you're so right. Vash is teh Hawt when pissy! I love that last little picture of Legato, he looks so Happy! Like: Wheee! I get to look after my Masters Brother! WHEEEEeeeeee!

I think Legato's just happy to actually be *useful* again. He's been in the black books for a very long time by this stage.

So, if Vash and Knives fused, it'd be like Vash took a Quickening, right? He'd get power and stuff from Knives, but Knives wouldn't have control over the resulting, uh, guy? Cooooool.

Something like that, I guess, yeah! Nightow isn't known for explaining things fully, just dropping hints XD.

If they burn through too much power, some of their hair turns black. When it's all black, they die. That's why Knives has now taken to nicking energy from other Plants rather than use his own - he plans on stopping at the one thin black streak he's got....

Possibly, but I don't think it's his style. Plus, he knows that doing that is messing with Knives' head, and Vash is rather fond of his individuality. It'd have to be a last resort.

I do love Plant!Vash. A definite advantage to the later volumes is that there's so much of him :-) And pretty much the whole of the next book is pissed off!Vash ::drool::

Knives has this crazy idea that because Vash sometimes changes his mind about things, that means he's weak. And even though he's been told differently by Conrad, he still forgets.

We have no indication of how 'there' the Bulb Plants are, or how much free will they have. Are they helping Knives voluntarily or being coerced? There's nothing in the manga as far as I've seen to say.

Legato finally gets out of the box in TriMax 11. But in the meantime, all his mental powers are definitely still there. I can only assume he didn't kill Midvalley because he didn't have Knives' say-so to do it (wouldn't want to make that mistake again).

I really love Nightow's willingness to push the crazy-weird boundaries overall, though inevitably that means there are one or two places it doesn't work for just about everybody. I've never been all that fond of Legato-in-a-box myself, but Nightow gets away with it far more often than he misses, and I'd much rather that than he played it safe and predictable.

There's Trigun vols 1 and 2 before Trigun Maximum as well. Nightow changed publishers, and the new publisher wanted a name change, but Trigun Maximum 1 carries on directly from Trigun vol 2.

I haven't scanned the earlier volumes because Dark Horse had already released them in English up to 4, so most people already owned them. They're easily available in the US and UK and via places like Amazon.

I never really planned all this manga scanning - I just scanned a few of the majorly slashy pages from Max 10 when it arrived and posted them for my friends, and then I decided to scan some more because it was so *good* and everyone loved it, so I scanned 11 too, and then people wanted to see earlier stuff that wasn't available in English yet and it became a Project XD. And then more people came, not just my friends!

Glad you like the fics! And even more glad you said so :-) Sometimes between the writing and the scanning and the translating, Trigun seems to eat up over half of my life! Since you're not on the v_x_w comm, I've added you to the yaoi filter here, so you'll now see V/W doujinshi scans in the back entries.
