tiggymalvern: (wtf is with this shit?)

A couple of weeks ago, I posted about the digging up of the two main routes to the freeway. One is a work in progress. The other was completed a week ago, with a fresh new coating of tarmac, and all the lines repainted bright and shiny.

Today there are men digging holes in that pristine layer of shiny new roadway.

Could it be that, in their infinite wisdom, someone covered up the manholes with the shiny new roadway? XD

There were definitely some manholes visible in the shiny new roadway. Whether it was the full set, I wouldn't know!

What is it with city planning up there?? Everything from the Monorail boondoggle to the I-99 tunnel debacle, and crappy stuff like what you describe. Somehow, that seems to be the norm for the Seattle area.

I wouldn't be surprised if they manage to mess up the marijuana legalization, too.

They did give quite a lot of thought to the marijuana legislation, which is why there was a year long daily behind Colorado in putting it on sale. It seems to be fairly thorough, from what I've read, but loopholes often don't get found until things go into practice, so I suppose we'll see.

Somethiong similar happened here in my road. Work on the water main was scheduled for Monday. On Thursday, the main burst and they hastily dug up the road and fixed it. They then spent the whole of Saturday and Sunday filling in the hole and relaying the tarmac. They finished at 8pm and reopened the road to traffic.

At 8am the next morning the scheduled roadworks arrived and started digging it up again...

I can understand how that happens - bureaucracy moves slowly, and nobody files paperwork over the weekend. Still sadly funny though.

I wouldn't be at all surprised if when the men got to the bottom of the second hole they found the leaking main no longer needed fixing as it had already been done...
