There really was a lot going on in the US last night... but surprisingly so much good news!
Did you stay up over the Texas thing? It must have been quite exciting. :-)
So, democracy vs democracy - the elected representatives voted one way, and their constituents turned out in person to say, 'Hey, this isn't what we wanted you to legislate.'
But to make it all more interesting, an even more removed-from-the-electorate institution told the electorate (in California) that they can't just fuck over people because they don't like them, and were right, too. *g*
