Chapter Six - "Seeds Voyaging to the Stars, A World Inside a Pod"

Page 157. So Elendira's not as dedicated to Knives or his cause as she appears. She's playing the odds on surviving, like just about everyone else in this manga. And she's rather hopeful about Vash.


Page 159. Wolfwood and Vash visit the site of Knives' big massacre at the Plant complex. I love Wolfwood threatening to beat up the little old guy when he asks for more money XD.


Page 160. Vash gets a vision of Knives killing Conrad, the Plant engineer.


Pages 162-3. "Tessla..." The shadowy outline of a girl, and we segue back to the Project Seeds ships.


Page 165. Rem holding a first birthday party for the twins. They both just look so puzzled by it all! XD


Page 168. Rem remembers finding the twins in the bottom of a Plant bulb on board the ship.


Page 173. Knives watches archival footage and figures out that not all humans are like Rem.


Page 176. The emergency alarms go off on board ship, waking Rem.


Page 180. The ship's about to hit something, and extra crew members start to awaken....


And so we have the set-up for big chunks of volume seven, wherein certain things will start to make sense.

I started translating volume 8 this afternoon since Sumire didn't have time to do it all. I would just like to state once again how much I love Vash. Thank you.

Those are excellent! I love the picture in the middle, with Knives and Vash and Tessla inbetween. Knives looks so very, very sad...
Aw, and arn't the twins CUTE as little ones! I mean really, they're so cute it should be made illegal!

she doesn't strike me as the kind who'd be particularly interested in Knives crusade against humanity.

She doesn't strike me as being interested in a crusade for anything! XD But her short chat with Wolfwood at the end of vol 5 implied she was resigned to Knives winning. Now we see her in private, and she's not inclined to give up just yet, which I like.

Yeah, I think I'll have to agree with that. Meryl and Milly can look pretty sometimes, cute even, but not hot. Rem's just a bit too sweet and motherly. Dominique had promise, but we didn't see enough of her to really judge.

If children were like kittens and came ready house-trained and grew up in 6 months instead of 18 years, I might consider it XD.

I think the manga back-story does more service for Rem too, as well as Knives. She comes across as a bit more practical and tough than the happy hippie who is all we really see in the anime. But to be fair, Nightow gets a lot more scope in the manga than the 22 minutes of anime screen time, so it's not entirely the animation team's fault. Which is not to detract at all from Nightow being a genius XD

Okay, that is painful, I'll admit. I've actually seen it around before - it's pretty much the archetype of the Vash as French maid genre. Which is traumatisingly popular.

OMGOSH. Mini!Knives and Mini!Vash are so adorable. I hate babies, but maybe Plants are different? Mini!Plants. *goes starry-eyed*

I love it when Nightow gets all creepy with Knives,t hat panel when he's killing the engineer is OMGawesome.

Yeah, I love that page with Knives too. It's so nasty and deliberate. As if Vash didn't have enough violence of his own in his head already, poor sod.
