TriMax 6 Chapter 4
Apr. 12th, 2005 05:15 pmChapter Four - 'Shi Chou' (DEATH OMEN)
Sumire's full translation here.
Page 96. Flashback to Knives recruiting himself a Plant engineer. I don't often like Knives, but he looks pretty cool here. Damn, this engineer must be seriously old - he was on the ships, remembers Knives as a kid!

Page 99. Current time - Knives, Elendira and the engineer pay a visit to the town's huge Plant complex. I don't think I want to ask about the blobs being poked around in the pipes. They look like giant chicken carcasses ready for roasting!

Page 100. Flashback to the Engineer studying Knives and the Angel Arm. Interesting Xray that shows an obvious blob in his forearm. The focus of everything, I assume.

Page 102. One of the Plant Angels. Knives can feel that she's dying.

Page 107. The weakening Plant Angel is deliberately drained of the last of her power by the town's engineers. The Angel screams and her hair turns black.

Page 108. She dies, her body already starting to shrivel and fall apart.

Pages 110-1. This makes Knives most unhappy.

Page 113 He slices apart everyone working at the Plant with Angel blades, destroying parts of the structure too as he lashes out in rage. He's got those blank eyes like lethal!Vash had....

Pag 116. His blades break through the Plant building, ready to attack the town itself. There's a flash of light and then Knives collapses with a brand new streak of black hair. The engineer happily explains that he's starting to burn out his Plant power and will die when it's all black.

Page 118. Knives asks Elendira if Vash has any black hair. I'm not sure how she managed to notice, given the distracting version of Vash she saw, but she's obviously the observant type, because she knows the answer.

Page 120. And five volumes after Vash suddenly turned up with the two-tone hair, we finally find out why.

Gotta love an author who plans ahead for the long term plot! I adore this manga, I really do XDDDD

Date: 2005-04-12 05:41 pm (UTC)Day-um, there's some good stuff in that issue. I love Knives expression as he watches the Plant Angel die. He seems so... sad and horrified, you know? And yeah, that first picture of him is cool, but I'm a Knives Junky.
Great stuff all round, anyway. It's really cool to see some of the Manga like this.

Yeah, stuff like that with the Plant Angel would almost make me sympathise with Knives if he didn't take it a little too far. And if he didn't end up using them so obviously himself.

Date: 2005-04-12 09:03 pm (UTC)Arafel came up with her own (het-centric) answer to that question. It is a good fic, so I pimp it.

Date: 2005-04-12 09:05 pm (UTC)The question being, is there any way to reverse the process?
Not that we know of. Knives certainly has some double standards regarding the Plants from here on in, now he knows the limitations on using his own abilities....
