Cat Sick but Not Sick
Dec. 8th, 2019 11:37 amI found a lump in one of Boog cat's anal glands about a month ago, and those are always nasty, aggressive adenocarcinomas. But his xrays were clean and his lymph nodes were all the normal size on ultrasound, so we went ahead and had it surgically removed. The biopsy confirmed it as adenocarcinoma, and it had infiltrated the lymphatics - we'd hoped maybe it hadn't spread, because we'd caught it as early as possible, but it's not that surprising given how aggressive they are.
So Boog currently has cancer at a microscopic level, and has no idea he has cancer and isn't ill in any way. He's peeved because he has to wear a lion's mane to stop him licking the surgical site on his bum for another week, but he's less peeved now we've taken him off the antibiotics that were giving him diarrhoea....
In another week, once he's all healed up, we'll start him on chemo to keep his cancer at the microscopic level for as long as possible. But meantime, have a picture of cute, unimpressed Boog.

(Ignore all the crap all over the floor. That's what it looks like right by the SO's computer desk, the rest of the house doesn't look like that!)
