A Fireside Holiday
Dec. 26th, 2008 07:16 amSo there I was at 10 o clock yesterday morning, turning on the oven to warm while I finished dressing the turkey, when 5 minutes later - *poof* - no electricity.
We lit the fire and drank a bottle of champagne while we opened prezzies, then rang our families on the dumb phone that doesn't require anything so advanced as electricity to work. And we curled up with books and waited for the power to come back on. We ate boiled eggs for lunch, because we're smart enough to have a gas hob that lets us cook without electricity. And we waited for the power to come back. And waited a bit more.
At 7pm, we decided we really weren't going to get turkey food that day, and ate pasta with alfredo sauce instead.
Thew power finally returned just before 11pm after we'd gone to bed.
I guess we're on turkey tonight then....
