The Federal Court has ruled Prop 8 to be unconstitutional.

Thank you, Judge Walker. No, it should not be possible for citizens to vote to remove the civil rights of their fellow citizens.

It's just sad that justice is so slow. Wonder how long it will be before it gets through the Appeals court and up to the Supreme?

Yeah. It's hard to say. The Supreme court gets to pick and choose what cases it will hear and when so it will be interesting to see, once it makes it that far, whether they'll stall or take it up right away. And it does make me a little nervous because if they were to take it and rule the wrong way it would screw things over for a long time. Legally, there's no reason to rule any way but the correct one but, you know.

Still! There's reason for hope with this and I'm going to be happy :D

Interesting. So if the Supreme court decide to leave it sitting for a while, what happens in the meantime? I assume the Appeals court decision, whatever that is, will stick until they do.

Yeah, the lower court's ruling would hold (whatever that was) until and unless they decided to hear the case. At least that's what I remember from my Criminal Justice education.

Now there's a plan. One that, sadly, might take a while :-(

Not that the bigots will let it end there, but hey, one step further.

Now, if they could just make it permanent and not just in each individual states...

The fact that this has to be fought on a state by state basis is just appalling. Not to mention ridiculously expensive, taking it through all the courts every time.

Add some more sugar to your coffee and run with it ;-)

Ugh. Black. No sugar, thanks. Still, whatever got me into the good/strange mood this morning was kinda fun. XD

In the long run, if it can't be for the entire nation in one fell swoop, even if it's one state at a time, I think it's good that it seems to be going in the right direction. Albeit sloooowly. *sighs*
