This is the prequel to Need. V/W, NC-17 for explicitness and swearing; you know what you get from me by now. Except this is a little different from my usual style, so any complaints should go to Renet for making me write it :-)
Ai no Kusabi, that uiggu was plugging in Renet's journal.
Actually, uiggu, I'd better just check - how good is your copy of AnK? Because mine's pretty sucky, but then I gather most of them are. Mine's a 218MB grab of someone's video copy. If yours is better, it might be worth you doing the copies and paying the extra postage.
Mine I got off eBay ages ago, before I knew paying for fansubs was not kosher. It's a VCD, 2nd or 3rd gen, I think. Anyway, it's not too bad: subtitles are readable, visuals are fairly clear. The only problem I have is that I need a CD burner and someone who knows how to use it, and both those things are out of the country until August the first. If you two are willing to wait, of course I'd be more than happy to do it. :)
Thanks! Too many writers seem to forget that the other side of Vash is there - even anime!Vash has his moments when he comes so close to killing Monev, and when he walks up that hill systematically shooting Legato. I just love Vash's complexity.
I like to go back and read 'Need' myself, just to see all the little ways things are getting better. Sex in an emotional vacuum is not normally something I'd write.
I wasn't expecting anyone to like this one, as such. There's nothing positive in there to like. And I thought 'Need' was bad enough at the time I wrote it! Until that little lift at the end as everything starts to shift, yeah.
See, that was real sex. Not airy fantasy sex. Real. Sex. Everything felt true. Also, congratulations on that most amazing achievement of including condoms without killing the mood. Memo to self: clean up nosebleed...
Favourite line:
“Are you my friend, Wolfwood?”
Fuck.
So good! And Wolfwood's voice was so strong and so clear, and that whole new dimension of Knives setting him up was a complete and welcome mindfuck after all those 'No one touches my brother except me, mwa ha ha!' fics... Hell, the whole thing was well worth the wait.
Angsty, I second the motion of you writing the yakuza fic!
Condoms are a bitch, aren't they? Normally I just ignore the damn things, because an astonishing proportion of my fics seem to involve sex with aliens - it's not like I go looking for aliens or anything, it just seems to happen that way... Okay, maybe that's worse.... Glad you thought it worked, anyway!
and that whole new dimension of Knives setting him up was a complete and welcome mindfuck after all those 'No one touches my brother except me, mwa ha ha!' fics.
It's been done before, but it's not that common. I don't go for the twincest thing at all, so I see no particular reason for Knives to be possessive over who Vash screws. Though Vash falling in love would be a very different thing, and the jealousy would come in from an attention aspect of things.
Knives is a pain, but that's why he has minions. All kinds of people could show up to complicate things. Or try to. Midvalley comes to mind first but he's certainly not the only candidate.
But you can finish other things. I swear, I'm not trying to push you into this! Much.
I was playing around with what would have happened if Wolfwood hadn't died in Paradise - the answer seems to be things get complex fast. I've figured most of it out but I'm still waiting for a big dose of inspiration re Knives.
It's so much easier when there's no real plot *sigh*
Up and running. I span it off so that the confrontations with the GHGs in Paradise were avoided. I know how the rest of the GHGs would go (I had great fun plotting for Legato!), but I'm left with Knives and I need something good. It'll come to me, eventually.
I have always loved Trigun, it is a favorite anime of mine. I have, however, never read ANY Yaoi fanfiction of Vash and Wolfwood (yumm).
I now blame my firend tameiki1for my current corruption. Your writing is wonderful, your descriptions are poetry and I like your plots. I am very happy to be now addicted to your writing.
We have many friends in common and I would like to friend you at my LJ and would like for you to "friend me back". I will add you so you can see my friend lock posts too. I have alot of those. So come by my LJ and look around. Talk to you soon. Warmly, Kat
Hey, thanks! It's always good to convert a new one :-) With a friend like Tam, you'll never be short of a bit of corruption, that's for sure!
Easily half the credit for the plots goes to Naito Yasuhiro, not me. You know you should read the manga, right? The anime is a mere ball of fluff compared to the places the manga goes - if you prefer the dark to the slapstick, the manga will own your soul, like it does mine :-)
And if you like V/W, go and read Renet's Trigun fics (http://www.behindthemasks.com/MistressRenet/trigun.html) if you haven't already.
Laughs, yes you are right I "should" read the manga and probably be will. It has been licensed in the states right? I collect alot of Yaoi manga and it's always a trip hunting down translations or scanlations, so if it's coming out in English that will really help, unless they alter it in anyway and then, I would need to hunt down the Japanese version instead.
Yes, Trigun does have an underlying darkness which I think gives the story substance. So many miss the forrest for the trees, with all the surface silly stuff.
I am currently at your website reading, and having a great time I might add. Thank you for also recommending Renet's work. I will definitely check out her/his writing when I finish reading your great stories. I am only on the second one - Pieces. ^___^
Well stop by and say "hi" at my LJ when you get a chance and thank you for friending me back!

Yeah, but only 3 volumes are out so far, so it's still kind of following the anime time period - it's a fairly loose relationship, though, because the anime writers changed a lot of stuff, mostly for the worse.
If only the manga was yaoi . You'll have to settle for shounen-ai, which does get pretty thick as the series goes on and Naito figured out where a large portion of his readership were coming from :-) Oh, and no het. That was invented by the anime people too.
Yesss, wouldn't been nice! Dream on - heh! Well do you have the Japanese manga and the English release to compare the work? Sometimes the translation houses like to edit things.
I am glad they never developed any heavy het relationships in the series . . . just hinted at it a bit. Well I am about to head out but enjoy talking with you and will definitely be back in touch after each of your stories I read. I love reviewing! ^___~
How did you know? I don't give out the freakishly obsessed vibes quite that strongly, do I? *looks shifty*
The Dark Horse translations have been excellent so far - they're accurate, and very much true to the spirit where the Japanese doesn't translate too well.
One word of warning before you spend money - the manga is something you read for the plot more than the artwork, at least initially. Naito's art style is very sketchy, particularly in the two Trigun volumes. It gets considerably better in Maximum, and continues to improve as the volumes go on. I really like the way he's drawing it now.
