Decision made, I'm definitely going this year. I asked the boss for the time off two weeks ago, and he hasn't confirmed it yet. Well, screw it, I'm going either way.

I already plan to leave this job in December anyway. If the boss refuses my time off, he simply gets my notice that much earlier.

See you in San Francisco!

Very cool. I get my Tiggy fix this year. *bounces*

^__^

So, have you made up your mind when you're going? I've been procrastinating about reserving a room. If I get down on my knees and try to make myself look semi-subservient, would you consent to sleep with me again? XD

Sorry to hear about your job. I thought it was going well... :(

I'll sleep with you any time, hon :-) I haven't checked if the con hotel is fully booked yet, or were you planning to stay elsewhere and migrate in?

The job was great overall until about April - we had a fabulous team who all got on well, with one exception. And then the boss screwed everything up and there was something of a mass exodus of staff, until by July there was only me and the exception still there. See my reply to [livejournal.com profile] logophilos above if you want more gory details!

Haven't even planned anything yet! Procrastination is my middle name if I had one. I'm open for anything. My plane reservation is set for coming in on Wednesday the 28th and leaving on Monday, November 2nd.

Saw your reply to L above. Man, what a mess. It's really to bad everything went to hell in a handbasket, you seemed to like working there before all this happened. Hasn't the boss gotten a clue he's doing everything something wrong by the way employee turnover is going?

And I thought I was slow to take notice of things. This guy is a pro while I'm still an amature in comparison. *rolls eyes*

Thought I remembered you mentioning those days. I'll follow your plan!

Nope, the boss doesn't have a clue at all. He'll blame anybody but himself. Some of it he blames on 'hiring the wrong people' (ie the new hires who were interviewed and taken on by the old team before they departed). The rest of it he blames on the economy, and how the good people are all sitting tight in their current jobs for safety (neatly ignoring the fact that his own good staff did no such thing).

It's a small world, and word gets around, and the good people who could get a job anywhere won't even apply to the place notorious for high employee turnover. He's left to pick from the desperate straight out of college with no practical experience (which would be fine if there was anyone experienced left to train them) or people from out of the area who aren't tuned into the local network.
