Well, it's taken me nearly a week to get around to writing this one up, which was kind of inevitable, given the week. Anyway, the delay means I get to incorporate a couple of links :-)
The Stranger's amateur short porn film contest last weekend was the usual hit and miss affair, with some great shorts and some distinctly uninspired or just plain odd ones. I thought the hit/miss ratio was better this year than last, while the SO felt this year wasn't as good overall, so which are the hits and which are the misses has some taste variability as usual. I just thought the best of this year were better than the best of last year, and that really made the evening for me :-)
In general, the ones we liked most won the awards or came close. Fucking Queers, the best hardcore winner, was my second choice for that vote. It was a long montage of intercut clips of various scenes set to music. Most of it was actually shot artistically instead of the boring porno close-ups ::yawn::. The fisting was doing nothing for me, because that was the boring porno close-up bit, but I loved the BDSM drag queen in her truly enormous stilettos, and the tattooed guy masturbating was well filmed. But the best thing for me was the two gay guys kissing and groping, and actually laughing and smiling at each other while they did, because so much porn is all open-mouthed groaning and completely forgets that sex is supposed to be fun. Some of our group felt that it was too choppily edited, though, with too much intercutting, and I can take their point.
My personal vote for hardcore went to Edged, that came in second. A beautifully shot film of a college jock who puts himself into the hands of a BDSM top, and really here the filming was all. Bondage isn't even my thing, but the lighting was used fantastically, and the camera really appreciated the body and the ropes. Gorgeous stuff.
The SO voted for Bewitched that came in third, while I was practically falling asleep during that one. A witch has a woman tied upsidedown in the woods and does her with dildos. I thought it was the most uninspired camera work of the evening, and personally I just can't find it erotic watching someone drool around a ball gag....
The comedy section was pretty awesome this year too. I almost voted for Butthole Lickin', the eventual winner, but decided to vote for something equally funny that had actual sex instead! But since the Kissing after Rimming discussion is one I've had several times among fanfic writers and readers, I think it creased me up even more than most of the audience XD
Anyway, since Butthole Lickin' isn't actually porn, despite the subject matter, the winners have put their masterpiece up online for all to enjoy. Though you might not want to enjoy it at work, of course.

My vote went to The Great Humpkin that came in third, a hilarious stop-motion style scene with real people combined with animation. A man and a woman are on the sofa eyeing one another up, while the man is envisioning a romantic evening getting to know one another, and the woman is thinking about a night of hot stranger-sex in every possible position. It was so well done, with silly animation-style googly-eyed expressions on the faces of the real people as they think through their various scenarios, and the animated touches just killed me.
The second place comedy winner was non-person porn, so that's also available online. It had a couple of funny reveal moments, but overall I thought it was a gimmick that just didn't have enough legs to it. Obviously other people thought differently, so maybe you will too.

I also have to extoll the virtues of Ride The Ducks, which was possibly the most well-rounded film of the entire evening. It was a silent-movie style film of a girl who comes home to find her rubber duck has been cheating on her with a pumpkin. So she attempts to win him back by taking him into the bath and masturbating with him. It managed the extremely difficult feat of being both funny and hot simultaneously - the girl was cute and sexy and obviously having fun, and the silent movie style gimmick with the black and white worked really well. She entirely deserved her best actress win, but unfortunately it wasn't quite as hot as the pure hardcores or quite as funny as the pure humour to take a category vote from me.
There was a lot more, of course, but I can't witter on about all of them. Though I can promise you that you've never seen a Dune pastiche quite like the gay porno take on the legend of the Queersucks Hardercock. That one definitely had its moments, and some fabulous costumes, but it also dragged its jokes out to the better end, when a bit of trimming would have helped it immensely!
And then we all retired to a pizza joint, and a quiet table in the corner away from any innocent unsuspecting patrons for a thorough post-HUMP dissection. Good times!
