Oh, damn, it starts getting harder to decide which pages to scan in at this stage. Partly just because, well, Vash! And partly because so many things start happening at once. So I give in, of course, and scan more.
The relevant Sumire page for the translation, although again there are changes in the compiled volume.
Chapter Three is called 'KYUUTEN', 'Sudden Change'.
Everything comes to a sudden halt with Vash's appearance, as Livio and Chapel take in the fact that this seriously weird new arrival literally stops bullets. Wolfwood's wondering what the hell Vash is doing there when he's supposed to be concentrating on dealing with Knives. And Livio, being a psychotic loon, decides that Vash looks like a fun challenge. It's been a long time since he fought someone who didn't die quickly. He explains all this at length to an increasingly annoyed-looking Vash. (Sumire's p187)

Livio opens fire on Vash. Chapel raises his cross-gun to join in. Wolfwood crunches down on the tubes of Wonder Drug between his teeth and makes a grab for Chapel's gun.

Chapel shoots Wolfwood several times and he goes sprawling again, but the Magic Juice is kicking in and he's not staying down this time. Vash is standing in a hail of automatic weapons-fire from Livio, still covering the kids, the bullets all warped and deformed as they bounce off him. (Sumire's p196)

This is the equivalent to Sumire's p197, except the words have changed completely. Wolfwood's thinking how Vash grabs on to things with both hands, and once he's got something he absolutely won't let go. He compares him to a spoilt kid *g*. But Wolfwood intends to do the same.

Wolfwood grabs Chapel and throws him.

Vash is coping with Livio, but he's finding it one hell of a strain, whereas Livio is still having fun even as Chapel flies through the air.

And then Chapel hits the deck with his neck thoroughly broken. Livio: "MASTEEER!!!" (Sumire's p203)

From this point on, we mostly part company with Sumire's translation. Livio's screaming 'Master, Master!' over and over. Wolfwood retrieves his Cross Punisher, panting with the effort of it all, and then fishes out his sunglasses. It's not making him look a lot better at this stage, and it's something of a pathetic gesture. I guess at least it covers up that rather freaky, wide-eyed look that he's had since Chapel pulled that pointy cross punisher out of him. He's thinking, 'Tongari... I'm asking you... don't let everyone see any more....' And Vash stops staring at Wolfwood and acts. "Can everyone move? Be calm... get back inside the building!! Right inside...!!"

The kids and Aunt Melanie just stare at Vash. Vash shakes bullets out of his shrinking Angel feathers and laughs nervously. "It's okay!! I'm Nicholas' friend. Trust me!!!" And he's thinking 'He wouldn't want you to see any more fighting than this.'

Livio inspects Chapel and finds his skull's fractured and his neck vertebrae thoroughly broken and he would have died instantly. He screams. And then we get something similar to Sumire's p210, where he cries and declares that Wolfwood has returned him to utter loneliness. Sumire's chapter ends here, but mine doesn't.
Those two minions that had been standing over Aunt Melanie and the kids get to their feet (I assume they kept the hell out of the way while Livio was shooting at Vash!) Vash comes to the nasty realisation that he and the kids have ended up directly in Wolfwood's line of fire past the bad guys. Livio spots it too, and the hesitation it brings is exactly what he's been waiting for.

Vash has a several page flashback to when he first met Wolfwood. He's thinking about how Wolfwood pushed his way into his heart/feelings despite their conflicting ideas, how he got used to him being there. He recalls their first conversation when Wolfwood was ranting on about how all the other idiots on the bus didn't recognise him. He remembers Wolfwood telling him about the orphanage, and making money for it but not exactly as a priest. He remembers all of it word for word, interestingly - a Plant thing, presumably.
Then Livio fires at Wolfwood and the battle's on again. Vash covers Aunt Melanie and the kids until they're safely inside.

Wolfwood's running and shooting at Livio, Vash at those two minions, and then both guys keep on going past their targets.

And they stop when they're exactly where they like to be, back to back and covering one another. Livio stares in amazement at the way his two enemies have now turned themselves into a single convenient target. He thinks they're batshit crazy. But he's also seen quite enough to realise that these two are used to fighting together united like this.

And no, don't ask me how Wolfwood found the time to light a cigarette at the end there! XD
