There was a post that did the rounds a while ago on the reblog-style platforms, containing this video, where someone left a model of the car on a parked car and then the owner came back and did a little happy dance.

Well, someone did that for us yesterday - we came back to our car and found not one, but two Hot Wheels replicas left on the windscreen.

The SO hadn't seen the original and was all WTF? And I was all, 'I know this! How sweet of them!' (The photo's actually a bit of a cheat, I took it in our garage when we got home, because it was dark when we came back to where we'd parked the car.)

The car being there was completely random, funnily enough. We were meeting up for a hot air balloon trip in a casino car park, and the instructions insisted, 'Do not be late! We time things to the weather and we will leave without you!' So we went down to Auburn early and ate dinner a ten minute drive from the casino to make sure we had no issues with the rush hour traffic.

And then we discovered there was a concert at White River, on the same road as the casino. So with 15 minutes to departure time, we had to phone the balloonists and say, 'We're literally one mile from the casino and my phone is telling me it will take 22 minutes to get there.'

"Where are you?' they said.

'At the intersection of 164 and M street.'

'What can you see?' they asked.

'A 76 gas station, Walgreens, a Lutheran church...'

'Walgreens!' they said. 'Park at Walgreens, we're coming along that road and we'll pick you up there.'

So our car ended up parked for three hours in a strip mall on the outskirts of Auburn, and someone saw it and left us a present, and it was just a very silly, smiley thing :-)

I have to admit, the car was looking very nice, no credit to us. Once a year we take our cars to a man who hand washes everything inside and out and waxes them to perfection, and this was just a week ago, so it was in a wonderfully shiny state. Our charming strangers might not have been so impressed had they seen it looking thoroughly muddy one week prior!

Anyway, the hot balloon trip was lovely, and I will post more on that when I've processed all the photos and video...
