Oh, Jesus ::headdesk::

I thought the word had at least got around this far. I thought I might have actually seen the last of dry anal sex and no prep with virgins. But no, it's back again in [livejournal.com profile] yaoi_challenge.

Oh, the pain. In every meaning of the word....

... do I want to know which fic it is?? I mean, I'm already squirming in my seat and not in a good way....

It's the Kaworu/Shinji here (http://www.livejournal.com/community/yaoi_challenge/35477.html?#cutid1). It's actually just very boring apart from the cringe-inducing part, not overall appalling enough to really poke fun at.

Oh, okay. I figured it was that or the Yami fic, but if it's bad enough to not use lube, I figured it was pretty bad overall.

I got well bored of that one long before I got to the sex! They're the same author, so I guess it's no surprise.

I think every single yaoi/slash comm and ML should have a link to Minotaur's site in the FAQ, with an instruction to fucking read it! Of course, half of them wouldn't read the FAQ, but then the mods could justifiably delete their works of shite and point out that it was a condition of posting in the FAQ :-)

[identity profile] andmydog.livejournal.com 2005-08-10 10:11 am (UTC)(link)
Ouch. It's bad enough when they forget to mention the lube, but to state at the beginning of the sex that "there was no preparation"? What, does Kaworu have magical powers in his dick, too?

[identity profile] tiggymalvern.livejournal.com 2005-08-10 08:48 pm (UTC)(link)
Seriously. That was the trigger of my horror to the point where I posted rather than just rolling my eyes....

Fucking *OW* dammit!

*scratches head* Gee, why can I not see excruciating pleasure being had by the uke/bottom for his first time with no prep and no lube? *crosses legs and winces*

Minotaur's link is good. Found this other one here that I prefer as being very matter of fact and straight forward about anal sex. I really wish these people would research just a little before writing about things they're not intimately familiar with. *sighs*

Yeah, that's a pretty good, detailed site. I could strongly recommend research to a whole lot of authors for a bunch of things, not just sex scenes!

No, but obviously neither kid comes with a normal quota of pain sensory nerves either.

Oh my. *_* Read that Kaworu/Shinji one, and hmmm... Heh, this is why I tend to copout on writing actual sex scenes, because I know I can't write them properly yet.

But, I'm doing my research. When I write them, I want to do it right. ;D At the very least though, and to my credit, I did know that no prep was not a good thing...

Research really isn't hard to do - the internet is a wonderful thing, and assuming that everything you've read in other people's fics is absolutely true is a very bad place to start writing. It's hard enough trying to write a sex scene that's really how without writing one that's positively wince-inducing!

It's not just sex scenes, though, it bugs me every time I read stupid things in people's fics that a ten-minute googling session would have fixed ::sigh::

[identity profile] bandita.livejournal.com 2005-08-26 11:10 pm (UTC)(link)
No, it's really not hard. I am set on waiting until I actually know what I'm talking about when I write it. XD Maybe I'm overly paranoid when dealing with my fics, but that's just how I feel about it. I'd rather spend the time researching and getting it at least remotely accurate than worrying about it not being so.

Spares everyone wince-inducing literature, at least. XD
