A Curious Visitor

This young buck wandered up the path from the trees this morning and came to investigate the cats. At one point he walked right up to the window and stared in at Yami with a foot of space and a pane of glass between them. I was too slow with the camera to catch that, but I got some shots after he moved on a few feet.



Yami was going nuts, with her tail lashing everywhere, and Kuro started making that angry mewling noise at him. He wasn't least the bit bothered by either them or me. Three females followed him up the hill and five minutes later they all wandered off again.

He has stubby velvety antlers, with all summer yet to grow them properly :-)

He was! I was less fond of him and his friends later when I discovered one of them had stuck a hoof down right on top of the trillium I planted last week and squished it into the ground...

Wow, what a great picture. I've had some bucks show up near my house but never close enough to get a shot like that! I'm really fond of their antlers when they're all stubby like that.

The antlers look so very strokeable when they're covered in velvet :-)

What lovely visitors you get at your house! We've got some mule deer that wander through our "back yard" but it's pretty rare. You get quite a selection where you're at, it must be so much fun wondering what you'll see from day to day. :)
