A Void of Little Brain

Neko found a large banana slug on his walk today. So of course he tried to eat it. He’s not as bright as his sister.



Will he learn anything from this incident? Highly doubtful.

He was a little surprised by the outcome of that encounter, and not best impressed by the cleaning process that followed...

What happens when a cat tries to eat the slug? Is that the slug all over his mouth or just lots of slime from the slug? Not being familiar with banana slugs... or cats for that matter, I'm curious to find out.

He's got the best expression on his face, though!

That's slug slime all over his face (and his front paws too). The banana slugs secrete a mucus that quickly sets into a rubbery, stretchy goo, kind of like that stuff they bind some books with. Not that it stopped Neko, who wanted to just keep going back for more!

Is it just as sticky to get off? I can't imagine it would taste very good. It looks like rubber cement.

That's exactly what it's like. It stretches and stretches then sproingles back if you don't keep pulling. The slime gave way before his hair did, though, so his face isn't bald!

Oh Neko. Poor goop-faced void.

Because we have a semi-finished basement, Vlad will occasionally find a slug, bring it upstairs to show us, and then try to eat it before we take it away.

But I'd rather he bring slugs than the giant spiders, because that leads to screaming and hyperventilating on my part.

Neko's fine, but he still has a couple of bits of slug gose on his chin that didn't come off the with the rest...
