I signed and sent it to all my friends.
Even though I'm very happily married to my hubby and have two beautiful kids with him I am bi sexual.
I feel no shame in saying I had a girlfriend before my soul mate came along and he supports me 100 percent.
LOVE IS LOVE! If you find it you are lucky in this world.
All my support.

There's a huge photoset of "Don't Divorce Us" photos on Flickr as well.

That was beautifully done. So sweet, too. "Don't divorce my grandma!"

Me too. Like a freaking drain.

It's so great to hear that from you - the religious groups behind this kind of bigotry are always so quick to claim that God justifies their actions. The world needs more people to stand up and tell them that religion can live in the same heart as tolerance.

I know. It really makes an impact with the song, and it's nice that they included the straight people with the message, 'Don't divorce my friends.'

Awww, thanks for that. I think it makes more of an impact that might actually change a few minds with music, though. The vid was a great idea.

Totally, it's a great video, hopefully they'll consider putting it on the air?

I was so happy to see all the people from different ages, and families, and...yeah.

I suspect it would take a lot of donations to make that viable, but we can hope.

Exactly. Those two vets were just too sweet for words.

I very rarely cry, even over people who have undergone the most horrific of experiences. Though it's the last thing I'd wish on anyone, ruined lives don't inspire tears. However, on the other end of the spectrum, seeing so many honest-to-god happy faces had me sniffling after about 3 photos. Christ.

The whole shenanigan is just one more way to use religion as a vehicle for directing human prejudice. It happens all the time. And it infuriates me like nothing else can.

[identity profile] tiggymalvern.livejournal.com 2009-02-07 09:43 pm (UTC)(link)
What made me cry was the idea that anybody would want to deliberately take all those happy, smiling faces and make them miserable. Say to them, 'Sorry, that was a mistake, you can go back to being perverts and outcasts now.' Fucking people.

[identity profile] seraphim-lament.livejournal.com 2009-02-07 11:14 pm (UTC)(link)
This; yes. And then beyond that, a massive measure of my irritation is directed at the fallacy that is the apparent need to 'uphold and protect the sacred institution of marriage'.

...Right, right. Because nobody of the Christian faith gets divorced, given that they are bound by the rites they exchanged with their partner during the marriage ceremony.
Because gay marriage might force us to question the God-given sanctity of Britney Spears' 55-hour Las Vegas hitch.
Because America follows the Bible, and the Bible defines every aspect of life, which is why nobody eats shellfish or pork, and men don't shave their facial hair.
Because America couldn't accept the change, just like they haven't accepted civil and women's rights.

Just...aargh. Now is the time for me to step down and take my rage away from your poor journal!

[identity profile] tiggymalvern.livejournal.com 2009-02-08 01:09 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah. And the sanctity of a playboy model's marriage to an 80-something oil billionaire. That one too.

Some people just aren't happy unless they've got someone else to point at and hate. Somehow it makes them feel better about their worthless selves.
