When something really is just that good

I adored Wild Adapter when I first saw the scans and found out the basic premise and plot. I adored it all over again when I read scanlations of the first few volumes. And now I'm completely lost in it for a third time with the English manga releases.

I forget in between, each time, just how fabulous it really is.

But when would you have the time to read them all anyway? While you're being so oppressed by the educational system....

Well, your drinking in the pub time should probably be grateful for the budgetary oppressions XD There's always a bright side to everything, if you look hard enough, right?

She's right! What, three drinks = a volume of manga? :D

Noooooooooooo! I don't need to get into yet another manga series! *whimpers*

Do I?

I don't honestly know that you do. WA is Minekura distilled into all her darkest, gritty psychological drama without any of the humour and silliness that lightens some of her other series, and while I love that, not everybody does. From what I know of your tastes in animanga, I'm not sure it would be entirely your cup of tea.

On a scale from Death Note to Monster, where would WA fit? :p

[identity profile] tiggymalvern.livejournal.com 2007-11-29 06:57 am (UTC)(link)
Definitely closer to Death Note - far too many of the main characters in Monster are actually nice :-) WA has a lot of violence. And drugs and yakuza. And sociopaths. Never forget the sociopaths....

Ooooh, drugs and yakuza *and* sociopaths? Everyone should have at least ONE sociopath in their lives. *pets resident sociopath gently* =D

Somewhere on one of the hard drives, I know I've got the scanlations. Will have to take a look-see now. Thanks for moving that title up for me :)

If you can't find them, I can send them on to you. Emerald Eyes have taken down the first three volumes now that the licensed releases are out.

WA's rather odd in that the whole of the first volume is very much a prologue, with one of the main characters only turning up on the last couple of pages. But it's a very good prologue :-)

Oh my god, yes.

I'd love it if there were more fanfic for WA. But I can understand why there isn't, why it's limited to short little mood and character pieces, because you just couldn't screw with it without knowing where Minekura's going. There's absolutely nothing broken in there to fix.

I should get more! There's no shortage of pretty to choose from :-)

I keep wanting to find a color image of the doctor. Kou, is it?

[identity profile] tiggymalvern.livejournal.com 2007-12-06 01:51 am (UTC)(link)
I've been thinking about this, and I don't recall ever seeing a colour pic of Kou. All Minekura's big WA art pieces seem to be Kubota and Tokito, without secondary characters.

Yeah, that's all I've seen so far. Still, I live in hope!
