Yaoi Con - the summary post
Ah, yaoi con! What can be better in the late autumn than four pleasantly warm days in San Francisco with friends? It was fantastic to spend time with the wonderful
tameiki1 again, after over a year without her charming and ever-entertaining company, as well as catching up with a number of other friends from earlier cons and adding the inevitable new ones XD We got to spend much more time with the fabulous
kiriko_moth and
jambery than I managed last year, which was lovely - great company, and even better tour guides, those ladies make :-) They introduced us to all the best shops in the Castro (no, not all of them were sex shops, though I did pick up a little something to try out on the SO ;-) ), and some great eateries. The Castro's Nirvana served very nice food and equally good (and since it was happy hour, more than reasonably priced) cocktails. Saturday evening was an over-abundance of tasty Tex-Mex, which almost made us too late for the bishie auction, eek! But we squeezed in the door, and by a sheer and most unlikely fluke, I benefited from our appalling timing by ending up in the front row....
As has been the story of the last couple of cons, I spent remarkably little time actually at the con activities and a lot chatting with friends, shopping in Japan town, and seeing a few sights - on Sunday I introduced
tameiki1 to the Sutro baths, and a group of us headed down to San Jose and a tour of the Winchester Mystery House in the evening. Somehow there's never enough time to see everything and spend with everyone -
meerkat and
babaca, I'll definitely have to try and grab more of you two next time round :-)
I got back home yesterday afternoon with a suitcase weighing a little over 20lb more than the one I left with - somehow each year I get the feeling I won't be buying all that much, and then I do....
There will be more to come! There will be comments and reviews of Stuff Wot I Bought! There will be ramblings on the sights that were seen! Though I make no promises on exactly when some of those will be forthcoming - I think it might take me a while to read all of the manga XD

Hee. I live to amuse. So glad I was able to be of service, Madam. ^^
Ginnever Avenue, dammit. Beep Beep. *giggles*
Being able to spend time with you this year made my trip that much better. I'm so happy to have been able to talk you into going after all. Thank you so very, very much for everything. *hugs*
All mushiness aside, gimme my Shiki pictures. Now, dammit! ;p

I'm so glad you changed your mind and talked me into going - I had a huge amount of fun! And just think how much manga and, er, other things I wouldn't have now if I'd stayed at home with the wildlife ;-)

I have FH to thank for "changing my mind" about going to the con this year. He's such a sweetie. Definitely a keeper ;)
Yes, just think of the 50.5 lbs of luggage you carted home. Thank goodness the other things don't weigh much, huh?
Oh, and thank you for impersonating others so well, too. You did a fabulous job! ^__^

I thought that was Hinako Takanaga-sensei's fault XD
Thank goodness I didn't let you talk me into buying any more manga!

Hey! If I remember correctly, all I did was point out the books by the author you liked. Very little "talking into" was necessary. *evil grin*
