The Expanse - season six

I was really happy with the final season of The Expanse. It was solid all through, exactly as the series has been from the start. The ending gave enough closure in a realistic way, while not wrapping up every loose end, because that's not how the world works. There isn't going to be a season seven, the creators have announced that, but if someone did decide to revive it in five or ten years, the groundwork is all in there.

Season five was less interesting to me, mainly because the crew of the Roci all went their separate ways for most of the season. It made sense, given the place in the storyline, after everything that had happened, and none of them had a compelling reason to stay. But I loved the crew and their interactions, their relationships, so having them split up to deal with their own issues was missing something vital for a while. It was great to have everyone back on board for the majority of season six as the events set off in season five drew them back together.

Anyway, the politics and the story continued to be involving and honest all the way through. It's one of those rare series where there really are very few holes to pick, no plot holes to be desperately spackled. The writing was always good, the characters always made sense and had reasons for what they did; while I'm sad to see it go, I'm glad the writers crafted an ending when their story was done.

Another friend recommended this to me ages ago but I just couldn't get into it. The praise is universal though, so maybe in a few years my brain will hav settled down enough to enjoy it. Glad to have your thoughts on it!
