News via [livejournal.com profile] iibnf

Every now and then a politician will do something awesome that melts some of my cynicism about elected officials. Today it is the Mayor of Boston, for bluntly telling the homophobic owner of a fast food chain that his outlets are not wanted in the city.

Link to the letter.

Honestly, I think Chick Fil a is disgusting, and they need to be denounced everywhere early and often. But Popehat does have a point.

I should say that any company that resorts to lying about the Muppets and doing this:

Kind of deserves just about anything people throw at them.

The company's president is somewhere between a bigoted idiot and outright scum. Popehat may have a point about elected officials doing business according to their personal principles, vis a vis the slippery slope, but it's still rare enough to see a politician turning away cash because of genuine principles that I'll applaud it when I see it.
