It's only 90 seconds, but it's so sweet and funny and hot and sexy, and argh. Why don't people make porn like this? I would buy porn if it was like this, but it never is.

HUMP! 2010

Porn comes in pairs it seems, for the weekend after Yaoi Con it was the turn of Hump!, The Stranger's annual short porn festival. Saturday night found the SO and I at a screening, alongside [livejournal.com profile] darthhellokitty, [livejournal.com profile] king_chiron, [livejournal.com profile] mamishka and another friend. Quality definitely seemed to be on the rise this year - while there were films that left me slightly bored (spanking is really not my kink), there were none that were actively bad. In previous years, there always seemed to be one or two stinkers.

On to the summaries, this year with a couple of videos! )

This weekend included the screenings of Year 5 of The Stranger's porn short contest. So of course we went along, with the usual suspects [livejournal.com profile] king_chiron and [livejournal.com profile] darthhellokitty and one of their friends.

Overall, the quality of filming was a step up this year. Every entry was well crafted, even if it wasn't to my taste, with none of the distinctly amateur films that have made it to this stage in previous years. As usual, I'm just making notes on the ones that stood out for me, for various reasons, to jog my own memory in future.

This past weekend was Seattle Erotic Art Festival time again. We went on Sunday, because that's the day I'm not working, but I'll have to make the effort to go sooner next time, and see the live performances. And also because someone had already bought what I wanted to buy this year, no fair!

For me, the photography was the superior art form this year. There were some good and innovative paintings, but most of what wowed me came at least partially through a camera. There seemed to be less sculpture overall this year.

I've linked to an artist's website, where I could find one, but some of them are using pseuds and don't want to be found.

Well, it's taken me nearly a week to get around to writing this one up, which was kind of inevitable, given the week. Anyway, the delay means I get to incorporate a couple of links :-)

So where's the porn then? )
tiggymalvern: (what was it you wanted?)
It strikes me that this journal has been far too lacking in hot guys for far too long, bringing disrepute upon its title. So, I plan to remedy this with a personal review of Bondi Urban, a book of the work of the Australian photographer Paul Freeman. With appropriate example illustrations, of course.

Nudity, my old friend! Where have you been? )

On an unrelated note, I've only received a comment notification for one of the replies made to my post from this morning. I'm assuming I'm missing other notifications too, so if I don't reply to a comment or query on a post in somebody else's journal, it isn't personal. Probably.

Last night we went to a showing of Hump! 3, yet another Stranger-run amateur porn contest, with an ever-growing group of friends. Each year we entice more of our circle across to the dark side XD

This weekend was the 5th year of the Seattle Erotic Art Festival. I went along to the Friday evening opening party with [livejournal.com profile] kiriko_moth (one of this year's invited artists) and [livejournal.com profile] jambery, both up for the weekend for the event, and locals [livejournal.com profile] king_chiron and [livejournal.com profile] teaforme. Poor [livejournal.com profile] darthhellokitty was ill and had to bail on us :-( Both of Kiriko's fixed price pieces had already sold by the time we got there - we told her she needs to charge more XD

There seemed to be more gay art this year than in the previous two, which was a plus :-) But somehow I didn't find as many pieces that grabbed my attention from across the room as I have in other years - some of the art, and particularly the photography, seemed to be getting a bit repetitive in theme and style, with less striking imagination and innovation in design. Maybe that's just because I've seen more of it now. I suppose there are only so many ways you can photograph a human body, just as there are only so many plots in fiction. But there seemed to be fewer artists' work and a smaller selection for sale in the store too, which was something of a let-down.

Below be nudity, strangely enough )
tiggymalvern: (huh?)
When you spend the day playing with juvenile cats with dangly toys on the end of strings, it can be very difficult to persuade them later that no, they really shouldn't play with the cord of your vibrator.

Yes, it's porn-fest weekend in Seattle again with the screenings of the finalists in the second (and hopefully to remain annual!) amateur porn contest organised by The Stranger. Overall, a definite raise in quality this year, and the gay porn quota was a lot bigger, yay! Over twice as many showings this year as last year, and still the whole lot sold out within days.

Long porny ramblings that may bore anyone who wasn't there )

Some interesting discussions in a coffee shop afterwards, as the five of us tried to figure out where the hell some of the porn staples come from. Two straight men and three bi-flexible women with a liking for Teh Gay, and not one of us with any interest in prolonged gynaecology shots of either gender, in close-ups of blow jobs and accompanying drool, or in come-shots, especially come-shots on faces. Come up the nose or in the hair? EEEWWWWW!

I have to assume that kind of thing is aimed at men, the main consumers of porn, but I've yet to find a man either gay or straight who says any of the above works for him as erotica. So who are all the men who like it, that it's so ubiquitous in professional porn? It sure as hell puts me off spending my money, much as I like the theory of watching good porn.
tiggymalvern: (porn? where?)
Yes, it had to happen, and here it is - the inevitable double entry moment....

Saturday night was midnight porno showing with Destricted. An experimental porn anthology was always likely to turn out something of a Quality Street mixture, and so it proved to be, but the good parts were good enough that I'm so glad I went.

You wanna read about weird smut? )

And for those persons entirely of higher culture (are there any of those here? XD), I'm just back (okay, yeah, I started this a few hours ago before I was thoroughly distracted by food and wine) from seeing Carmen in Khayelitsha, a film based on Bizet's opera but set in the South African 'informal settlement' of the title and sung in the Xhosa language with its clicks and pops.

Violence and murder - so much better than porn, don't you think? )
tiggymalvern: (fuck)
And then I realise I haven't, and never will.

And once again, the poor, confused vendor has been driven to describe this book as 'Yaoi?' Because they don't know what the hell it is either.

If anyone's morbidly interested, the book with the awful kitty look from a couple of weeks back sold for $36, BTW.
tiggymalvern: (huh?)
I think you must have to be Japanese to get the chibi ears and tail thing. I've seen it before, many times, but this is looking to be the the worst case of ears and tails around. There's something particularly awful in the details, like the way Vash's tail is all fluffed up with excitement in the last picture there....
